We roll for the scenario and we get Mosh pit. We place some buildings and walls a few inches from the pit area for gaks and giggles as neither of us will make any use of them.
Deploy: I place my Dog company scattered in front of my army as I want them going in first for primed. My forgeguard and Harlan versh setup to the right of the field in small clusters while the rest of my army crams into the tiny area to the left of my devil dogs.
My opponent sets up his jacks flanking feora who is center in his army. The choir sets up on my right, while the knights set up on feora's other side with the daughters and gravus further to my left.
Turn 1: Opponent goes first, he runs everything except feora who ignites the knights exmplar, moves forward and then places a firewall near my edge of the mosh pit. The daughters and Gravus go wide to my left and hang out around the wall.
I basically do the same. Harlan runs up behind the wall on the right side, my devil dogs run to the edge of the mosh pit and spread themselves out. I place a focus on my driller and it runs up behind the devil dogs. Next I activate my forgeguard who all clump together and run forward just behind the devil dogs. Durgen and his little posse mostly run up except Durgen who casts Red Line on the driller.
Turn 2: My opponent gives some focus to his jacks and upkeeps ignite. He assaults my driller with his reckoner for the extra distance and ends up doing about 3 damage to the driller after boosting and the choir singing battle. The choir also move up to the edge of the mosh pit with feora front and center and the knights skirmished to the left slightly. The Repenter moves forward into the pit and tries to flamethrower three of my devil dogs, appearently they are not spaced out enough.Lucky for me, he only kills one. He activates the daughters next and they run/charge my devil dogs, managing to charge 2 and engage the other two that are in the front line. He kills one.
I give no focus to my driller as he is not going to reach anything. Harlan versh walks up the side of the wall a few inches from the pit and opens fire on the choir. Using his quad iron, he hits and kills the leader...and then proceeds to gun down the entire unit. Yay, dude finally payed for himself. I see an opening here to maybe assassinate feora who is sitting on just one focus. He is positioned a few inches behind his reckoner and I think I could reach him with Durgen and Doug's buffs. I run the forge guard forward and more towards the right side of the mosh pit. I activate Doug and reinholdt, move them forward and buff durgen with an extra shot, +2 rng, +2 ranged attack rolls, and reroll deviation/distance on AOEs. I then activate Durgen and walk him up his full 5 inches and take a carpet bomb shot at feora...but she is out by about half an inch, total bummer. Oh well. I make my three AOE shots and manage to completely miss her every time. Instead, I killed 3 of his knights exemplar, and put a tiny scratch on his reckoner. I use my free shot from reinholdt to dismount gravus. After that giant waste of time, I prime the devil dogs who activate next. They charge various models, killing two daughters of the flame and causing a bit of damage to the repenter. Two of them run to the reckoner to tie it up. Thor goes and...fails his Drive check. The gunner activates and walks to the edge of the pit, barely contesting it with the driller. It tries to pop a knight exemplar but misses. End turn 2.
Turn 3: The zone is contested by our jacks and some infantry. He gives 3 focus to his reckoner, activate his knights and has them run/charge. One hits one of the Devil dogs engaging his reckoner - he HAS to kill them since he cant get the reckoner out of melee with them to get at my driller, Knockdown net FTW. He hits and obviously kills. THe explosion from primer kills the knight, the other devil dog, and puts a bit of damage on the reckoner. The reckoner can now charge my Driller which it does and deals a solid amount of damage, cripples my drill and movement and leaves me with 9 damage boxes left and on fire. He activates his daughters who just walk right past my devil dogs and engage Durgen, Doug, Thor, the remaining dogs, and a stray forge guard. He then charges my lead devil dog with gravus and, using reach, kills it without retaliation. which then blows up the other two devil dogs that were up front. Feora walks into the zone and feats, catching my entire army on fire except reinholdt. Ouch...
I activate and start rolling for fire. Very very awful rolling for me. I lose harlan versh, Thor, doug, all but three forge guard, and all the devil dogs. I am reduced to Durgen who is still on fire, the damaged driller, the gunner, reinholdt, and three forgeguard. Durgen is surrounded by daughters so he cant shoot. I stick some focus on the driller and smash his reckoner to pieces in 3 attacks and end up with 2 extra focus. Durgen casts Ground zero and wipes out all the daughters. The forge guard charge the knights exemplar and kill them.
Turn 4: The pit is contested by Feora and his repenter, and two of my forge guard, gunner, driller. He casts ignite on Gravus who charges Durgen and kills him in two boosted swings.
Well pFeora is really freakin good in that scenario and against my list. Her feat basically guarantees the loss of most of my army and there is literally nothing I can do about it besides kill her first. His daughters negate my primed devil dogs very effectively as well.
