Hi, all.
I thought this forum might be the best place to post this, bu a Mod can move it if needs be.
Right, as my painting skills are improving, I thought to myself that I'd like to get me a standard, non-gaming military model, like Airfix or something, and hone my skills further on a non-£35 Games Workshop model. Plus, I like history, so that's all good.
Turns out I don't actually know where to look. I wanted a British MkI tank from the First World War, so I first of went to Airfix, but I was shocked to see that they only seem to make 'tiny'-scale models, and quite disappointingly, the quality of the models seem to be quite poor.
I searched online for general military scale models, but I couldn't really see anything that was on par with, dare I say it? Games Workshop.
Can anyone, who's in the know, recommend a type of models that are on scale with, say, an Imperial Guard Chimera?

An Armour Save? No, never heard of it. Me? I play Imperial Guard. |

Tamiya don't appear to do one, but these are all on sale

Nothing 1/48, but ones slightly larger and much larger than the Airfix, depending what you want to do. 1/35 should be a pretty good model, but don't know the brand or the kit

Dragon Models. The best in the business for Military Armour. Airfix is out of date nowadays.

This site has a few sub forums with links to manufactors of models from various periods. The WWI and WWII threads may be of use to you. Though if you have the interested you may want to look through the actual forums themselves, as there's a host of threads on the subject.

To my knowledge, only Emhar do WW1 British tanks in plastic, in 1/35 and 1/72.
Airfix do some nice things but much of their catalogue are very old very poor kits, avoid rubbish like their Tiger 1.
