So in the rulebook there's a bit that says that objectives may not be placed inside fortifications.

So if i get an Aegis Defense Line, and I wrap it up all around all sides touching to form a square/circle/octagon whatever you want to call it.

Does this mean i can't place the objective in the center, because it would be 'inside' of the circle?

How does this rule get applied specifically?

The other question is about the gun emplacement, the quad-gun/icarus-lascannon when purchased for an Aegis Defense Line. Must it be touching the walls? Where must you place it exactly? Are there any restrictions, where can i find them?

Thanks in advance for the clarifications, these have been bugging me for ages but just been playing by ear really and now i'm just like 'ok let's play this thing the correct way in case we arent already'

There is no "inside" of an ADL.

Even if it happens to make a circle, models in that circle are not inside anything from a rules perspective.

That rule simply prohibits you from putting the objective inside a Bastion or FoR, or on top of them.

There is no "inside" of that either. There's also nothing that allows that emplacement to occupy the same space as the objective either.

mmm ok that was a bit confusing so let me be more clear

the question about the gun emplacement isn't related to the objective at all.

I'm asking where must the gun emplacement be placed? Near the ADL? in base contact with the ADL? Anywhere on the table?

The rules don't say, other than the general rules on where you can place your fortifications.

So technically the gun can be anywhere you want it to be. There is no stated distance relative to the ADL itself where the gun must be placed.

This is one of those controversial things.

RAW there is no limit (other than the basic rule about being entirely within your half of the table and not within X" of another fortification). The wall sections must form a single unbroken chain (according to the FAQ), but no similar limit is ever imposed on the gun emplacement. So yes, by RAW, you could place the gun on the other end of the table if you want.

Some people, however, interpret the FAQ to require physical contact between the gun emplacement and the wall based on an incorrect assumption that "attached" must mean "physical contact" not "organizationally tied to" even though the latter meaning is the one that makes the most sense in that context. They're wrong, but you may have to deal with this objection if you don't do it the way they want.

Some other people believe that unless you place the gun emplacement "near" (for some arbitrary personal definition of "near") the rest of the ADL you are violating the "spirit of the game". There is of course no rules argument behind this, just a sense of outrage that something "isn't fair" about putting the gun "too far away". You can always decline to include their house rule, but don't be surprised if they refuse to play against you unless you do it the way they want.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.
