Jealous that Horus is Warmaster
|
Hello!
I played my first couple of Infinity matches today, and I loved it, as did my opponent. We decided we would buy som more models so we can play bigger games, and I found the Indigo Spec Ops (PanO) which looked cool. I saw in the army builder that you can equip him with whatever you want, so I thought that would be very useful to fill out my army, getting one with some nice weapon and skills.
However, when I started giving him gear and skills in the army builder his cost didn't change. It was still at 10 points, and I gave him ALOT of expensive stuff, but all that happened was his "XP" went up. Is this something I've missed? What's going on here?
Thanks!

You can't use spec-ops models in standard games. They're like characters who develop over the course of a campaign. I don't know the rules, maybe there are some pdf's who tell about it, maybe some book you've got to buy. They are, however, widely used as proxies, especially for units that don't have models yet (the Ariadna Intel spec-ops gets proxied for Jaques Bruant, I heard)

Greetings Indigo Spec Op is a specialists that can be played in a Campaign: Paradiso or Infinity Tournament Scenarios* (ITS) that allow Spec Ops to be taken. His cost will not change, you pay his gear or abilities with "experience" points. In 300 points, 12 XP points is usually the limit but it can also be lower, depending what the players playing Spec Ops agreed to. * http://www.infinitythegame.com/infinity/downloads/its/[en]SpecOpsTournament.pdf Welcome to PanOceania.

I see! Thanks for the answers. Feels a little silly that they are in the army builder, but it doesn't say anything about it.
Oh well, he'll be a proxy for something else then. I like the model :-)

It's in the army builder because there is a specific ITS tournament format that allows them. In these cases, 12XP will be granted to 'upgrade' the model. The model's base cost ALWAYS stays at the chosen base unit's cost.
So if you build an indigo from a Fusilier (10pts) he will always stay a 10 point fusilier model (at 0swc) but you can make him a hacker or engineer or doctor or give him specific gear without raising his SWC cost.
Just upgrading him with an HMG gives you a 0SWC HMG, for example
They were added as campaign upgradeable character in paradiso (if they died, then you had to start again).
