Hey all,

I am a returning player new to 6th (I last played in 4th edition) and was hoping to get some help designing my army. I have chosen Iron Hands as their background seems the most interesting and will hopefully provide plenty of opportunities for conversions :-). I have started by crafting a 1000pt list which I would be grateful if you could critique:

Chapter Tactic = Iron Hands

HQ (185pts)
Captain + Power Fist + Shield Eternal + Bike

TROOPS (405pts)
5 Bikes + 2 Gravguns
5 Bikes + 2 Meltaguns + Combi-melta
5 Bikes + 2 Meltaguns + Combi-melta

ELITES (310pts)
Dreadnought + 2 Twin-linked Autocannons + Venerable + Extra Armor
Dreadnought + 2 Twin-linked Autocannons + Venerable + Extra Armor

HEAVY SUPPORT (XXpts)
Thunderfire Cannon

TOTAL = 1000pts

The battle plan is simple but hopefully effective. The Bikes advance down one flank. The Captain puts the hurt on whoever needs it and should be fairly well protected in return. The Dreads provide highly accurate support dakka (BS 5 with re-rolls) whilst also being able to take a fair amount of punishment (Venerable + Extra Armour + IWND). They can also prove AA if necessary. Finally the Thunderfire drops blast markers everywhere, and when necessary the Techmarine can patch-up the Dreadnoughts.

Comments and Criticisms welcome. Thanks.

PS. I know I have a number of bikes but please don't suggest I change to White Scars - I'm sticking with Iron Hands :-).

Well, not sure if you need the venerable upgrade and extra armor. I'd spend the points elsewhere, since the Bikers will be top ranked at the enemy's target priority schedule.

Fair enough. I quite liked the idea of dead 'ard dreadnoughts - it seemed to fit the Iron Hands theme well. I will test it though and see where those points could go instead. Cheers.

Yes, if you spent those dread upgrades elsewhere, this is looking like a really good list.
