I am about to enter my army knto the school league and I heard you get extra points for a backstory. So waht do you think of this?
Artaria is a planet on the border of segmentum pacificus just outside the halo stars. It is a freezing planet with ice cold winds and regular snowstorms. When it was rediscovered by the imperium it fought back. Waging a brutal five year chemical war. Because of the damage they did to the imperium and the savagery with which they used their weaponry they have been denied the use of banewolves or other chemical weaponry, they also wear gas masks to forever remind them of their rebellion. Failing to find warmth or shelter when on the surface of Artaria will surely result in death.
I am planning on using the steel legikn models and painting them white and black. What do you think?

Very cool, you could go the other way and make them use heaps of gas so whenever they kill the enemy they are forced to remember the horrors that took place on their planet. Pretend their flamers are chemical weapons and their grenades etc. that way there is more of a theme going. But thats my opinion And check these out if you want cheaper models

True, I might go down that route. The only problem with the ose models is that I live in the UK so unless they have a shop over here it will cost me a fortune in shipping!

Shows you as proof of my free shipping rants. The custodian heads are really decent for adding to cadians as a simple conversion. Will look great i think.
I think these will suit heaps as well. Automatically Appended Next Post: http://victoriaminiatures.highwire.com/product/5-chem-tank-backpacks

Now, I know 40k is not reknown for its logic, but why would you suggest exposed head for a regiment raised from an ice ball? That'd be a quick death right there. 2nd link is okay, but still, its strange.
Edit: Steel Legion model are actually cheaper than the heads+cadians, by the by.

Yes but you will end up with the same poses per each squad. Cadians are a bit better as squads arent too identical to each other. Also plastoc is lighter. Less detail but the heads will be a nice resin with plenty of detail. As much as i prefer the old guard models to the plastic ones it is annoying to have multiple squads of them. Let alone an army.

Is false, you never mentionned posability, or far that matter all the extra bits that come with the Cadian box, which is a far better argument.
But then you have the same issue as with the heads, they don't gloved hands, frostbites are not nice.

Well nitpick all you want i was just trying to help. And at the end of the day i was just broadening his selection. So get offended all you want but its his army, he might change the fluff to suit some models he thinks are cooler but i doubt thin leather gloves are gonna stop frostbite anyway. At the end of the day i was just throwing out quick suggestions non of which you have to like
Also he didnt say if he wanted to greenstuff some hats, or paint their hands as gloves or anything. So it doesnt really matter.

If he's entering a GW school league, suggesting 3rd party bits isn't the best idea.

I have no idea what school league is... but if its GW related then i guess not. I try to distance myself from GW stores and events so im not knowledgeable on that stuff. Up to the OP really.

Yeah, GW does a school league. If that's the league he means, then no 3rd party stuff. He'll also have to follow the honour guide IIRC.

who is to say they arent? unless they are perfectly seamless from arm to hand, you can easily paint the hand whatever color you want the gloves to be and POOF! you have gloved hands.
