I play guard but I also have some GK + henchmen, some space marines and a storm raven (un painted) and I haven't chosen how to use it yet. How can I get the best use out of it with guard? I was thinking of either putting some pretty basic GK in it to come down and assault the enemy or go for a full 12 man squad with some henchmen and an inquisitor in it. Any suggestions? Of course there's also codex inquisition but I haven't read it yet.

Codex inquisition will do nothing for a stormraven as there is non in it.

Just bringing in a MM/AC +hurricane bolter +psybolt ammo is pretty great. It can put a serious amount of dakka down and is relatively tough.

If you really need more out of it the two units I have liked is 3x flamer/carapace henchmen for a cheap scoring threat and a 3 DCA +3 crusaders for a serious melee threat. Coteaz is nice but you kind of need to bring a jokaero and servitor heavy weapons team to maximize his abilities.

Well, if the flyer gets destroyed, your GK inside will die horribly. The best unit to be transported in an SR are Assault Termies w/ TH/SS due to their good inv. save.
I'd use the SR as gun boat and mount some henchmen inside (with 3 plasma guns, 3 flamers, or 3 meltas).

Crusaders are also good models to take in Stormravens. 15 points to tank that AP1 hit on a 3++

Ok, definitely going with henchmen for the stormraven and it fits more with guard. Going to put coteaz and a few crusaders in it, maybe throw in some arco flaggelants for extra cc power. Use the actual stormraven as close air support w/tl assault cannon, hurricane bolters and tl multi melta. Use coteaz and his squad to assault out of it.

Interceptor shots happen at the end of the movement phase, so you can disembark before they happen. Your opponent then has to choose between shooting the disemarked passengers or the raven. No 2-for-1 kills
