Hey guys.
Just wondered how the two rules in this situation would operate
Molik Karn has been Animus'd by the Bronzeback and given Beat Back.
He charges in. He kills a guy. Now does he move his 2" Side Step, or the BeatBack 1" first, and does he get both moves???
Cheers!

He gets both moves in any order the controlling player wishes.

Unless I'm mistaken, Beat Back occurs after an attack is resolved, whereas Side Step resolves after successfully hitting with an initial or special attack.

So in this case, you'd have to to:

1. Hit
2. Side-Step
3. Resolve Damage
4. Beat Back.

Edit: Both say after attack is resolved.

Edit2: They're not same named effects, so you get both.

Beatback says immediately, so you do that first.

I don't think that's right malfred they both trigger in step 12b of the combat sequence so the "immediately" clause is redundant and it defaults to the active player choosing in which order they trigger.

So you can beat back then sidestep or sidestep then beat back depending on which is the best for you at that particular time.

Malfred is right. Effects with 'immediately' are must be resolved as soon as possible in the chain. If they were both 'immediate' or both just 'after resolving' you could choose.

PP does not mince words with rule timing.

Well, again, this is what happens when I try to answer questions with only Battle College as my guide.

Battle College just gives you an idea of what the rule is. Its not a rule reference.

Its more like a place to window shop or get the basic idea of how a certain unit works, not where you find out exactly how X rule works.

Nope you definitely can resolve them in the order you choose.
http://privateerpressforums.com/showthread.php?180566-Beatback-Side-Ste-p&highlight=Beat+back locked thread therefore answer correct.

Immediate is just a timing indication and forces that resolution into step 12b. As both beat back and side step trigger in step 12b then the active player chooses which resolves.

Further discussion on this http://privateerpressforums.com/showthread.php?115637-How-immediate-is-immediate-and-if-multiple-things-are-immediate-which-happens-first

Basically the appendix timing is always the ruling factor and immediately means nothing if two rules would trigger at the same time then the timing in the appendix is what matters not the wording.

No problem,I think it's probably the old Mark 1 wording which causes the issue but the appendix chart timing always takes precedence however the rule is worded.

Wow, I didn't realise it was so in-depth, but then I guess I should expect that from PP.
Either way, I'll definitely be getting both MK and Makeda 3 in January!!!
