So, I'm playing in a league at my LGS and our masters are locked in.

I chose the good doctor, and anticipating my first league game this week. Sadly, i'be only played him once and lost very soundly.

Would anyone have any good tips for playing him and his crew?

Well, what did you use? Are you using him as a resser or guild? What were your weaknesses? Who did you fight?

My crew was

Mcmourning
Sebastian
2x crooked men
2x nurses
2x belles
2x canine remains

I wanted to get a feel for him as a resser first.

I went against sonnia and her crew.

Aside from my own dumbassery I'm unsure how it all fits together as a crew to be honest.

Well, sonnia is a large part of why I avoid not having at least one decent plain-old shooter in my force (particularly against guild, who tend to outgun anyone, so it's good to be able to fight back a bit), since she can outmaneuver a melee force with LOS shenanigans and punish spellcasters.

MCMourning has some of the best access to shooters of any resser, since he can get guild guards with an upgrade he's probably taking anyways.

Sebastian's Under Cover provides defense against most of Sonnia's heaviest magic, including her big blast threat

Have you been using the Transfusion-Expunge combo? Most of his crew is built around generating poison at the right place, and then using his and sebastian's rules to exploit it. For instance, just loading up a flesh construct with a syringe can get you around 8-9 damage and a potential take your meds bonus.

Did you lose based on objective? Just getting exploded? The more info, the better...

Sadly, I was trying to get expunge to work and ran the good doc away from sebastion. Also, I was trying to recycle my canine remains with sebastion.

I do have some guild guard on order to try and advantage of that upgrade.

I got blasted a bit until I read sebastion's ability for anti-ranged.

Yeah, I completely forgot all about my objectives and wanted to try and figure how it work.

I get the feeling that recycling isn't as good of a strategy in 2nd edition, which, as much as I enjoyed it in the last one, is probably better in the long run.

I'm not sure much else other than the sebastian thing, though, regarding Sonnia- I haven't played against her a ton, and she usually artillerizes me before I can take her out...

Yeah, that's my thought as well.

This weekend I'll have to try him in a guild role or take some guild backup, though I have no idea what's good in guild these days.

I would not take 2 nurses (except if they are the only models you have) as you want some heavy hitters in your list like the Flesh Construct mentioned already, or a Punk Zombie.

Belles are great for re-positioning models, especially McM who loves to dish out damage but can't always take the hits himself, luring him out of combat after he has activated will at least give him a breather from what ever he was trying to kill.

Huh, I dig the nurses. They're super useful and do just about anything, speed up some models, slow some down or heal something.

I might play around with the punk zombies, as I don't really seem to like the crooked men.

My McMourning plans for 2E have been stymied.
I was planning to use Guild Autopsies.
However, they're not in the new book.
My lack of ranged attacks using the standard McMourning box was a bit of a handicap.
I didn't find Nurses that useful, bit I may have just been using them badly.

If the thought of something makes me giggle for longer than 15 seconds, I am to assume that I am not allowed to do it.

I feel you on that one. I can't wait for some of the wave 2 stuff to be finalized.

Oh man I can't wait for Guild Autopsies, they look very good for 2E (I thought they were terrible in old ed)

You can see there beta rules on the site and try them out.
