Mindless Spore Mine

Hi everyone, I am new to dakkadakka
I need help with choosing an army to collect.
I have already:
Necrons: Immortals & Warriors
Imperial Guard: Guardsmen and sentinel
Grey Knights: one strike squad.
I have painted all of these, but I have realised that I don't like these armies.
All armies look good, but I don't know what playstyle suits for me. I think best looking armies are:
Chaos Daemons
Tau Empire
Tyranids
Dark Eldar
What of these should I collect?
What are the playstyles of these armies?

I cant speak for Chaos Daemons because I barely know anything about them (dont even have the codex). Tau are very strong at the moment, and they have always been a very shooty army. If you like not getting stuck into combat but blasting your opponent apart, Tau are for you. Tyranids are almost the opposite, they have mediocre shooting but can be viscous in assault. They are a horde race, meaning the play style is to essentially drown your opponent in models. Be prepared to spend a lot of money of heaps of cheap infantry, but also a few hard hitting monstrous creatures. Dark Eldar I have a decent painted collection of but ive hardly ever played them, I love the models but im not too sure about their play style. Im no expert, but I think they are quite balanced. They can be good at range but also effective in close combat (Incubi.....), however, like all Eldar, they have a tendency to be fragile. Probably not a good army for a beginner, unlike Tau and Nids . Hope this helps a bit! (Might be and ideo to say what playstile it is you prefer, because its possible that although you like the looks of these armies, another one may suit you more)

Thanks for the information. I have been considering Tyranids and Tau. I am not sure which one I should pick...
One more question, are Tyranids supposed to get a new codex soon? Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh and also Dark Eldar look so awesome, and I like them because their units can move very fast.

Rumors I have seen say Tyranids are probably getting a codex in a couple of weeks. Should go on pre-order next saturday if the rumors are true.

Rumors point to a new Tyranid codex within the next few months. I would almost recommend Craftworld Eldar, however they are not a beginner army.
If you decide to go Nids be prepared to paint. A lot.
DEldar are basically glass cannons. They hit hard, bit a glance in their direction kills them.
If you decide to go Tau, watch out for the inevitable Riptide hate.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.
Orks always ride in single file to hide their strength and numbers.

^^^Craftworld Eldar were my first 40k army, I didn't think they were to difficult for a beginner, you just need to know your list like the back of your hand, know what every unit can and cannot do.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Orks are still da best though

Chaos Daemons aren't bad.... but there not all that great either, mostly just a support for CSM units IMO

I strongly disagree with this.
Daemons are far stronger than CSM as a whole.
