No, I'm not going to do this... I'm gonna do it myself...

... failed...

I'm being ripped apart. I like YJ's heavy infantry and fluff, Haqqislam's models and fluff, Nomads' tricks and assault remotes (though I hate furry Bakunin, but Corregidor and Tunguska more than make up for it), and the general techless badassery that is Ariadna. And don't get me started on all the sectorials!

About my playstyle: I just want to control the pace of battle, be it using high MOV/ Impetuous to keep attacking, or lots of camo/defensive models to bleed my opponents to death. I also have a general dislike of rambo startegies. Does anyone have some advice on what army I should choose? My friend plays MO so PanOceania is out of the picture.

PS: sorry for another 'newbie asks for help' thread.

Haqqislam's models and fluff

Haqq will do (most of) what you want to, by the sound of it.
...especially the "lots of" bit, in my experience (fethers... )

They don't really have that (set of) unit(s) that I can theme my force around. Nomads have Tsyklons and Iguanas, Yu Jing has Aragotos and the Su Jian, while Ariadna has TankHunters and Chasseurs. Maybe Khawarijs, but they are rather pricey IMHO and don't bring much extra tricks to the table...

From the OP i would say it sounds like Nomads would suit you best (much as i hate to say it). They have lots of units that will let you control the game/ board whether you go first or not. So lots of infiltrator/ camo options with crazy koalas/ mines all over the place. Hackers with access to a lot of repeaters to mess with any high tech factions. Access to lots of AD troops to mess with your opponents plans. Fast moving remotes with climbing plus or cheap/ fast warband units to get in your opponents face. On the other hand the other factions you mentioned could also pull the same tricks to some extent so the choice is up to you!

Haqqislam still has those toys you want, but not on as many units. TO camo is available on Tuaregs, Hassassin Fidays have a sort of camo being Impersonators, and you can feth with your opponents head with Hafzas disguising themselves as other models with their holoprojectors. Fast moving bikers? Kum bikers. Mines? Plenty of Haqq units pack mines, even super lethal viral mines. Hackers? Plenty, even one of the only non-Nomads to have markers, the Hassassin Barid. Who can also very helpfully be your Lt and still costs no SWC. Plenty of Remotes, one fairly cheap with a Repeater.

You'll usually find ways to do what you want with any force. Not many have a complete lack of something, like Ariadna lacking hacking (Tohaa are pretty limited there too, with only defensive hackers). Just note that your preferred playstyle of 'control the battle' is the general playstyle of the entire game. Your opponent is going to do it right back at you with different tools. This game is all about being aggressive and trying to control the engagment.

I meant a unit that I really like the looks and fluff of, like the Khawarijs (but I'm told that they are too expensive for what they bring) or the Azra'il. Think I'll settle for Haqq, because I like their models most, can still pull the MSV2/smoke trick and climbing+ shouldn't be the deciding factor. Maybe I'll have a look at Kum and Djanbazan combo.

PS: Thanks for all the input really, sorry to start another thread about a noob needing help...
