I didn't want the GW Commander Chenkov and decided to make my own out of a Vostroyan Sergeant.

Looking at it here, the red of the guts compared to the red of the uniform looks really similar... but in RL they're very easily distinguishable - the red for the guts is Khorne Red mixed with spots of Wazdakka red, and the uniform is Mephiston red with Mournfang brown stripes.

You should have at least swapped the pistol for a bolt pistol.
Your colors seem a bit flat, some highlighting might help make it pop more, though it could be the picture. Did you use the "macro" function?

I still could change it to a bolt pistol, but I don't have much plasma in my army, so I actually thought why not leave it on to add more colour.

So, same problem as your other one. Back your phone camera up a foot or two. You can always crop the image down to just your mini, but you can't bring your mini into focus in post-production. Not even photoshop can do that.

That looks like a blurry guardsman standing on a Werther's Original.
