So a servo skull is destroyed once an enemy model is within 6" of it.
Are the vengeance batteries enemy models?
Are servo skulls enemy models?
Seeing as they count as part of the enemy army and are models I would normally say yes to both but the fortification is a fortification which is normally battlefield debris and the servo skull is ignored mostly for most rules.
What do we think? Thanks in advance.

Neither are models by game definition. Models have a stat line and unit type which skulls and forts don't.

Servo skulls are counters as per both codex I and GK so there is one answer. ADLs are for sure battlefield debris but i have no idea what the vengeance batter is as i never bought one.

Okay servo skulls I can see.
Actually the vengeance battery does have a stat line with AV values and a BS.

TBH I am not really sure if the vengeance battery actually functions as it has rules to fire on enemy models but is a fortification building...which shouldn't have enemies. You are given permission to target it like an enemy model but is it an enemy model otherwise?
Interesting side note is the Tau have a fortification that is artillery. They could deploy these and destroy servo skulls.

Even if that were true (don't use FW so not sure that you're referencing) fortifications are placed before skulls so not really an issue.

It is a unique fortification that has a few exceptions to the normal building rules, exceptions that further break an already poorly written section of the rule book in their own unique way. Luckily, none of these exceptions have anything to do with the question. The Battery is still a Fortification and the fortification rules inform us that they are Buildings. The rules for buildings do no grant us permission to overlook the lack of a unit type or the fact it does not have a complete profile. As these two things are required to meet the definition required to be classified as a model, it can not trigger any special rule or requirement that has the qualification of 'model' attached to it.

Are they? Both happen after DZ is determined and before forces are deployed. so unless there was an FAQ i missed i can see it having to be house ruled.

Ansacs, Buldings do not have a profile. While it is possible for us to create a psudo-profile for buildings, deriving values from the rules found within this section of the book, this is not the same as having a profile. Putting aside the complete lack of permision for us to create our own profiles from snippets here and there, any profile we create for a building will always be incomplete. This stems from the fact that buildings do not have Wounds or Hull Points, a characteristic that is to be found on one of the two profile formats used by models. Without this information any profile we create will always be incomplete, and therefore invalid, even if we had permission to do so in the first place.

Okay another weird question then do servo skulls effect the insides of a fortification? Say a fortification is just inside your board half and a servo skull is placed to cover it. Can an infiltrating unit be embarked upon it?
My understanding would be no.
An enemy model fortification in the correct spot could keep the opponent from placing a skull within 6" of it. I just wish GW had made their self firing fortifications immobile vehicles or artillery so they conformed to the standard rules.

Fortifications must be placed wholly within your DZ and not within 3" of another one. Also you cant infiltrate embarked inside a fort (i think you can be on top in the battlements but not inside.) edit: oh wait nvm its not DZ its Table half my mistake.
