So yeah, i recently got the new codex, but i have no idea how to put together a working army.

20+ Bolter marines
2 PC, 2 HB, 3 ML, 1 MM marines
2 Meltaguns, 4 Plasma rifles, 3 Flamers
10 Assault marines (TH and two flamers)
15 Terminators (5 TH, 5 LC and 5 tactical)
10 Sternguard Veterans
Command squad (Can make any combo)
Captain
2 Librarians

Its a tough list. You don't have all that many new models to really take advantage of the codex. It looks like this was someone's old 5th edition army.

This is what I can put together. You will need to do a little bit of proxy'ing or bits swapping to make it work, but I think this will get you started. This is 1500

HQ
185 Pedro Kantor
180 Chapter Master : Artificer Armor, Power Fist, Storm Shield

Elites
100 Dreadnought with MM
230 10 Sternguard

Troops
195 10 marines : Rhino, MG, MM
155 5 marines : Rhino, Razorback w/TL AC, MG

Heavy Support
115 Predator w/LC sponsons
90 5 devestator marines w/2 ML
250 Land Raider Redeemer w/MM

Summary
Sternguard and ICs go into the land raider. Your not to assault with it, but use it as your base of firing. If you have combi-weapons you can play around and stick some in there. Thats your center unit. Use the redeemer to flame stuff close by and act as a mobile cover base when needed. That's your center of the board objective grabber and why you have Pedro.

Your dread runs up behind and just acts as a general nusance. It will MM anything close.

The razorback tactical squad wants to sit closer to 24" away. Thats your back field objective holder

Your other tactical squad is there to provide support when needed. Run the rhino up with the raider.

Melta = reliable Anti Tank, AP1 gives +2 to the vehicle damage table, meaning a 4+ roll is asplode instead of a 6.

Bolters are marine's bread and butter, can't go far wrong with Imperial Fists tactics, besides, taking Pedro I think forces you to use the IF CT.

Also look into the IF 3rd coy chapter tactics, replaces Bolter Drill (re-roll to-hit 1's) with Close Range Bolter Drill (re-roll *all* failed to-hit and to-wound rolls). Caveat to that is it only works at half range. Works great with drive by's and drop pods though..

Edit:
Oh yeah, give your 5 man Dev squad Flakk missiles for +15 pts too, cheap AA. And don't forget to forgoe the Sgt's shooting (you shouldn't be close enough to use him) for BS5 on one of the missiles

Pedro would lock you into crimson fists.

But his advantage in this list is that he makes sternguard scoring. Sternguard are pretty much full of win.

And Crimson Fists must use the IF CT, or did I make a mistake there? (couldn't tell who you were replying to).
