Hi Everyone,

I am pretty new to Infinity but would like to build a 300 point Aleph list. After playing with Aleph toolbox for a few days, here is the list I have come up with. Your comments on the list before I go out and get/paint the models would be appreciated! Here is the list:

Achilles Spitfire Lt
Asura Hacker
Myrmidon Chain Rifle X2
Zayin Rebot
Dasyu Combi Rifle
Posthuman Mk. 1 Doctor
Posthuman Mk. 2 Sniper
Netrod

In total this works out to 298 points (5/6 swc). Let me know what you think.

Cheers

Aleph toolbox, export, BBCode, copy/paste gives this:

Aleph | 9 models
________________________________________________________

Achilles Spitfire Lt (80|2)
Asura Hacker (77|0.5)
Myrmidon Chain (16|0)
Myrmidon Chain (16|0)
Zayin Rebot (27|1)
Dasyu Combi (35|0)
Proxy Mk.1 Doctor (14|0)
Proxy Mk.2 Sniper (29|1.5)
Netrod (4|0)
________________________________________________________

298/300 points | 5/6 swc

which is much easier to read/work with (if only because this way, we can load it with a single click to mess around with).
Not an Aleph player myself so I'd be wary of any advice from me if I were you
Not sure taping a combi rifle onto that Asura is ideal; kinda takes away the reactive power even a multi rifle has for...what? there's no hacker support, just the one TRbot (and not even mono mines! ); Aleph seems (to me) to be a tricky army to start off with to begin with, and you're taking a list which will go down hard after you lose one or two models.
Could be a lot of fun, or you could be fighting an uphill battle more than a bit.

Thanks for the feedback! I have updated the list to drop Achilles for Eudoros and give the Asura a spitfire. Plus I got the monofilament mines! How does this look:

Asura Spitfire (72|2)
Eudoros (40|0.5)
Myrmidon Officer Combi Lt (32|0.5)
Myrmidon Chain (16|0)
Myrmidon Chain (16|0)
Proxy Mk.1 Hacker (22|0.5)
Proxy Mk.2 Sniper (29|1.5)
Netrod (4|0)
Zayin Rebot Monofilament (34|1)
Dasyu Shotgun (35|0)

...I'd really wait for some of the actual Aleph players around here rather than going by my advice

Well, personally I'd rather drop the Asura than Achilles. That bugger is really quite good. So is the asura, but I feel you need that raw offensive power more in this list. how about swapping Achilles back in and replacing Eudoros with Penthesilea? See if that works, pointswise.

Aleph | 10 models
________________________________________________________

Myrmidon Officer Combi Lt (32|0.5)
Myrmidon Chain (16|0)
Myrmidon Chain (16|0)
Proxy Mk.1 Hacker (22|0.5)
Proxy Mk.2 Sniper (29|1.5)
Netrod (4|0)
Penthesilea (46|0)
Achilles Spitfire (80|2)
Naga Minelayer (27|0.5)
Zayin Rebot (27|1)

Mono mines are quite good, but not a hard requirement if the list requires otherwise

Again, I'm NOT an Aleph player - get competent advice before acting on my 'feel' for an army I don't even play...

Only downside is you're going to be seeing a LOT of FIRE weapons and MSV around before too long, but by that point, just get a few other models to switch in (by that time, you'll know what to get by yourself, no help needed initial learning curve is steep but the game is really intuitive after three to five matches ).

My friend runs a similar list, Myrmidons, an Officer Lt, Asura, etc.

I'll say this - Asura are a nightmare. Use it aggressively, because they're not easy to deal with. Same with Myrmidons. They have ODD, which almost acts like permanent cover, while making actual cover even better. Don't worry about trying to melee with them - move forward and shoot the gak out of everything. When they kill something, they become Impetuous, which is even better for an aggressive unit like the Myrmidons.

I can see that Achilles is a total monster and I would love to include him! The only issue is that I need to find another alternative to the Asuras' MSV level 3. The Asura has the same ARM and essentially the same number of wounds (because of NWI) as Achilles and comparable BS. She is 8 points cheaper and the only thing she is missing is the ODD (and CC ability, but that is not her function), however, if I use the Myrms' smoke grenades properly I can compensate for this. That's why I included Eudoros, he is essentially a mini Achilles and receives an extra order due to his impetuousness and he has an MKV2 rifle and Zero V smoke grenades. Basically I can be super aggressive with the Asura and Eudoros without risking my LT.

Cheers

Also, the Asura is one of the coolest models in the game (IMHO)!

Fair 'nuff, sounds as is you know well enough what you're doing - go ahead and try, best way to learn anyway!

Your list is ok, no fundamental mistakes or anything.
Having played Aleph for more than a year now I can tell you your list could work, because it's really more about what you do with it, than what you bring to the table. But instead let me share some of my insights with you:

Myrm Lt. - is very obvious, if you place her right you can use the her to lure your opponent in, but it's dangerous
Eudoros - Is pretty pointless outside a link imho
Dasyu - I never used one, once you learn to handle the proxies right they are better and cheaper Dasyus
Zayin - terrific for area denial and general disencouragement, I bring one almost every time
Asura - my favorite heavy-hitter, but don't think she's invincible, she will go down sooner or later
Naga Minelayer - nice toy, but in an army where you will rarely have more than one or two camo markers, the minelayer skill doesn't really shine, I prefer the mono mine loadout by far
Naga Mono - my favorite unit out of the whole faction I guess, mine has killed dozens of TAGs single-handedly and often even walked out of it alive. walk up in camo, place mine at the TAG's feet, survive the ARO, start shooting at the TAG unopposed until your opponent is fed up with it and takes the chance to trigger the mine instead of being fish in a barrel.
Achilles - I don't use him very often even though he is fantastic, but for me the MSV3 always overweighs the ODD
AD troops - Once you've killed your share of cheapo ekdromoi to learn the intricacies of AD, give Diomedes a try, he'll surprise you. Having AD has become an integral and effective part of my battle plans very quickly. And Dio was the hero of my list on last weekends tournament, he killed em good.
Proxies - tricky to play, if you're just starting out I'd advise you to stay away and get a feeling for the faction as a whole without those special special special rules

Hey Baiyuan, thanks for the feedback!

I am curious, could you give me a sample list that you typically run as a more experienced Aleph player? I know what you mean about the Myrm Lt being obvious, but I feel Aleph in general have a hard time hiding who the lieutenant is.

Also, your mention of Diomedes piqued my interest, I really like that model. What are some of the intricacies of AD that you mentioned and how do you use Dio effectively?

Any thoughts would be great!

Cheers

Yes, the small choice and high cost of LTs are the (intentional) cross to bear for us players.
Spoiler:

Your Lt will almost always be apparent or one out of two obvious choices. Having four or even five identical orderbots and potential Lts is a luxury Aleph forgot to plan for. One day I'll field 4 or 5 Deva/Bot combos though.

My lists vary a lot so it's hard to say exactly, but I can give you a rundown of the units that have shown their mettle and that I thus feel most comfortable with.
The most steady units in my lists are in fact:
Asura (Normally with spitfire.)
Naga (Always with monos for those really tough units or absolute area denial. Nobody wants to block his objective with a template of deadly mono wires. Be careful though as your own will potentially suffer from it too.)
Zayin (Reliable strong AROs and thus areal denial, rock solid performance in most of my games. All options are viable if played right.)
TO Hacker (Either option is very powerful when facing TAGs and HI. I prefer posthumans for their lower price and two for one character, even though they prevent combat camo on the first turn and cost an extra order.)
The other units in my lists vary a lot more depending on mission, enemy and my own curiosity for giving other units a try.

I've summed up my thoughts on Diomedes before, you can find them here:

Have you ever run Dio as your Lt or would you consider doing so?

I would probably never do that. Because you would have to deploy Dio on the battlefield right away to avoid LoL.
If your Lt is not on the table at the beginning of the game (through Aiborne Deployment or Hidden Deployment), you start in Loss of Lieutenant. Meaning you would only have two orders on your first turn regardless of your actual order pool.
