Hey, Dakka, it's the Doc. I've quickly compiled a quick 750 pt. list. This is to help me get the feel for what Chaos Marines can and cannot do. So, without further ado, this is what I'm thinking:
HQ
Dark Apostle - 105
Troops
10x Marines w/ Fl, Plasma, PS, IoV - 200
10x Marines w/ Fl, Plasma, PS, IoV - 200
25x Cultists w/ 2x Flamers - 120
Elites
3x Termis w/ 3x Combi-Wepons, MoT - 207
Total: 742
Looking at this list, I'm wondering if I shouldn't decrease the size of the marine squads to 7 or so. That being said, it's pretty simple: Marines will take objectives or get into cover to kill moar Loyalist scum, the Dark Apostle will run with the cultists and proceed to beat people over the head, and the Termis will Deep-Strike and can possibly serve as the hammer to the cultist anvil.
Keep in mind, this list is intended to help me learn how Chaos Marines work on the table, and I will be switching out units for others, to see what their results are, and how well they work with everyone else.

as a learners game go for it. I would put some meltas/ PG on the CSM squads so you have something to take down 2+ saves and vehicles.

I'm not entirely sure if I understand your comment. Are you suggesting putting more Plasma? I mean, I already have one plasma gun in one squad, and I can easily put in plasma for the termis.

I tihnk he means having specialised squads with only one type of special weapon, say two melta guns and two plasma guns. to tighten up this list a little, I would suggest giving one squad two plasma guns and one squad two melta guns. Take whatever combi-weapons you wish with the terminators - if it's the minimum 3 man squad I go mainly with the termicide route to really annoy the opponent, which is giving them 3 combi-meltas to deepstrike next to a vehicle and pop it open. Otherwise, I really like this list, Dark Apostles are really underrated in my opinion and I hope you do well with him in the cultist blob.

Okay, that makes sense. Thanks for clearing that up.
