As the title, thinking of picking up a starter and one or two bits and bobs for ALEPH. Haven't given the rules a proper read yet though. I'm more into the pretty model thing.

So. I see 2 starter sets for ALEPH ( Regular (?) and Steel Phalanx ). Which one is "recommended" for newbs? Guessing the Steel Phalanx is like a fluffy faction of the parent army? Are they good buys (there's not a dud Ogryn type unit choice in there)?

What would you add to round out the starter? Not looking to drop a whole heap of cash right now, maybe another interesting infantry squad (+/- $10 from MM).

In the fullness of time, want to pick up a second starter to play some demo games. What would be the suggestion to get a good feel for the game, either a counter type army, a fluffy rivals faction etc? Looking at Nomads, Haqqislam or the Yu Jing.

They're both good purchases, the general starter offers a broader variety of units, whereas the Steel Phalanx is a sectorial army, so a sub-faction within the parent faction. IN a nutshell, sectorials forego versatility for more units of the same type and specialisation.

Rival faction for ALEPH are Nomads and the Combined Army. Nomads would be a faction that plays diffrentily to ALEPH, as Combined Army are in some respects similar.
