Can an IC split from the unit it is with using the Scout redeployment?
ICs can join units by being deployed with them, and leave by being more than 2" away at the end of the move phase. However, being redeployed via Scouts would still be during deployment, and so you could choose to detach at that point.
Yes? No? Automatically Appended Next Post: And if yes, what about detaching out of a vehicle?
So, Inquisitor with Warband inside Land Raider. Inq gets Scout. Can the Inq measure 6" from the LR's hull and redeploy there, while the LR move 12" in a separate direction?

It is interesting question. In that units with IC's confer scout to each other, but they can only join the unit by deploying in co herency with them, but at what point do you judge they are joined together, the moment they are put down?. I would say yes thinking about it so I wouldnt have a issue with this.

Well you absolutely can't disembark as part of the scout move - the USR says so.
ICs - per the rules on page 39 - can only leave units at the end of the Movement phase.

Alright, thanks for the rules reference regarding vehicles--I missed that.
Regarding the other part, though....
ICs "join" a unit by being deployed in coherency with it. Scout is a redeployment; thus, the IC can be deployed out of coherency with the unit it was previously deployed in coherency with.
Sketchy, I realise, which is why I'm asking. But I don't see a technical problem with this, since it all takes place in the deployment phase.

There is no problem with this, Infiltrating is another matter. But that is a subject that has been discussed to some extent

I would respectfully disagree.
"An Independent Character can leave a unit during the Movement phase by moving out of unit coherency with it. He cannot join or leave during any other phase"
If an Independent Character joins a unit, and all other models in that unit are killed, he again becomes a unit of one model at the start of the following phase."
Once the IC has joined the unit it cannot leave by any other means other than by moving away from it during the movement phase or if the entire rest of the unit is killed. As it is not permitted to leave the unit yet at the time the unit redeploys, the IC remains a member of that unit for "all rules purposes". It must therefore be placed in unit coherency along with them during redeployment.
Essentially, there is not means for the IC to leave during deployment once it has joined the unit.

Can't leave the unit because scout redeploy isn't a movement phase.
Also this is pretty cheesy.

So once I place my IC down on the table, next to a unit, that's it? He's stuck with that unit? If I change my mind during the deployment phase, and wish to attach him to another unit, it's too bad for me since he's already attached and it isn't the movement phase? That's pretty harsh.
Also, I don't understand how trying to figure out how the rules work is considered " " Could you elucidate?

Yes, you are stuck with him in the unit.
When you really think about it it is less Beardy/Cheesy to force him to remain with the unit that granted him/he granted the scout move; to allow him to detach would give one of them a free use of the rule. And yes, this would be horrifically abused if it were allowed.
