Say I'm upgrading a unit of Ork Nobz with some cybork bodies. The entry for the Painboy says that "All models in the painboy's unit may have cybork bodies - X pts each"

Does that mean I can equip just a few of the Nobz with the cybork bodies (EACH model has the option), or do I have to give them all the upgrade - or none of them (ALL models have the option)?

Google was no help, and I couldn't find any old posts or errata on the subject. Sorry if this is a common question...

Without having the Ork codex to fully read that section, I'd say it means that all of them have to be upgraded or none of them can.

In other areas, like Harlequins, the wording is "Any model may.." which means you do it on a model by model basis.

HIWPI, All or nothing. The wording is "All models in the painboy's unit" rather than "Each model in the painboy's unit" would seem to indicate that every Nob must take the upgrade for any Nob to take it. I feel it's always better to assume that the provided text is written a particular way for a reason, unless FAQ'ed otherwise.

The way it is worded is because the cost in points is variable, it depends on the number of models in the unit, as opposed to the Psybolt Ammunition upgrade for GK units where it is a fixed cost regardless of the number of models in the unit

I'd say I'm convinced, it's clearly intended to be all or nothing. Thanks for the clarification.

Be careful of the wording, camo cloaks are certainly all or nothing while stormshields for sternguard aren't.

hey what time is it?

Basically, if it uses the word "all", it means all-or-nothing for that unit. There are plenty of examples where the other approach is covered by the wording "any model may".

(edit) ...doh - just realised clively beat me to *this exact point*. (retreats back into the shadows...)
