Assault marines are about as useful as a grot's toothbrush. Even for BAs there not particularly great. That is why I'm proposing a new USR Ive come up with, and wanted to see what 40Kers would think. Too much? Too little?

Grenadiers: A unit with this USR can use one additional grenade in the shooting phase. The models in the unit bearing this USR can also use an additional grenade in the assault phase if they have more than one attack, up to a maximum of two. They do not receive an additional grenade attack for an extra had weapon, but would get one for charging, banners or various other special abilities. This rule would not apply to ICs that joined the unit.

So, each marine gets to use two krak grenades when they charge a vehicle? Seems like overkill, considering how easily krak grenades wreck vehicles in an assault anyway.

Aren't Assault Marines pretty much the best Jump Infantry assault unit in the game anyway? If they aren't worth it, then maybe it's the rules for Jump units which need a boost.

How does this fit in with Assault Marine fluff or playstyle? Assault Marines aren't the best, but this does very little to fix that.

Good Ol' Texas

Assault Marines are actually pretty good for SM.... 5 guys with 2 flamers in a DP for 95 points is great!

The Flying Circus & MCs in general. I'm tired of watching 250 points of BA asm get held up for 2 turns then butchered by a DP or GD. I hate not charging one of those piles of beardy cheez with a asm unit because, even though the point might be equal, there's no chance of success. A few more krak grenades and I got a chance.

Well, just because you had a bad game vs a demon or CSM player, doesn't mean you gotta...change the rules per-se.

There might be a way to fix this, easier, maybe a retooling of points cost since they are just...marines with jump packs really.

I'd say if they were a bit cheaper, and got more ability to get wargear weapons, they'd be more a force to be dealt with.

(But as said above, 5 ASM in a DP with 2 flamers, and a combi flamer sergeant....for 105 points is pretty dandy.)

Bedouin Dynasty: 10000 pts
The Silver Lances: 4000 pts
The Custodes Winter Watch 4000 pts

Sternguard though, those guys are all about kicking ass. They'd chew bubble gum as well, but bubble gum is heretical. Only tau chew gum.
