Hey dakkas,

Me and my cousin are going to have a game on Thanksgiving against our dads as a Fathers vs Sons battle.

2v2, each person gets 1500 points.

I play Grey Knights, my cousin plays Dark Eldar, my dad plays tau (gun line), and my uncle plays eldar (seer council)

So its GK and DE vs Tau and Eldar

Just wanted to see your take on the matchup and see if I could get some last minute tips before the good ol fashioned family bloodbath lol.

Thanks guys!

My take would be hyper-aggressive with those GK, try to draw fire so the fragile DE units can survive advancing and then watch the fun with whatever scraps of your force survive (if any).

Also, tune up your banter, and have fun, which is far more important than anything else in this kind of game

I collect:
Guard - 2k of mostly infantry
DA - 2k of deathwing, 2k of other bits (no vehicles)
Sisters - mostly converted/proxy because I'm waiting for therange to go plastic.
Tau - 2k with no riptides because I can.

Hah, yeah I'm figuring that me and my cousin are going to be chasing them around the board trying to get close while they play keep away. Definitely looking forward to all the banter lol.

Grab your ankles, because your going to get spanked by your dads!!

Seriously, these are the suggestions I can give.
1) Go first. Use coteaz and the vect to give you an 8/9 chance of going first via seize or die rolls.
2) Shoot his seer council on 1st turn. Yep -- go ahead and pour all your DE shooting into them. You can neuter it really well.
3) If you have a GK storm chicken hit the seers with mindstrike missiles after turn 1. Go after the warlocks with it, don't bother on the farseers.
4) Focus fire. Try to bring both your armies to only 1 of theirs. Don't get caught up in two 1v1 games.

You have some very effective ways of neutering his Seer Council (I assume they are on Jetbikes?) with MindStrike and the more controversial crucible of malediction (DE Arcane Item) which forces LD tests or die, that's really funny on Ld 8 Warlocks. For your Greyknights, take a Dreadknight with a Heavy Incinerator, its an absolute death sentence for gunline tau. On the turn he shunts he will wreck any single non-suit unit he has, ADL or no. Interceptors with incinerators would do the same, but are less likely to survive return fire. Taking Cortez and Vect will practically guarantee first turn, because you will either seize or they will simply let you have it to avoid being seized upon. A basic brake down of your two ideal lists should be these, but you can easily adapt it to what you have.

GK.
Cortez
Henchmen in Psybacks,
2x Dreadknights with Heavy incinerators
Choice of either PsyRiflemen dreads or a Storm Raven.
Fill in remaining points with interceptors or bulking out henchmen,

DE.
Vect
Haemonculi with Venomblade, optional liquefier/crucible to go with Vect
5 man warrior squads in dakka venoms
Incubi/Bloodbrides/Wracks/grotesque escort for Vect
3 Ravagers/2 Ravagers plus Flyer of choice
Extra points go into Trueborn squads.

Do these look OK to you?

lol!

I am actually bringing a coteaz list…got 3 acolyte squads in psybacks, plasma cannon servitors with a chimera, 2 NDK with the works, and a raven. Question is do I even want to bring an ADL? I also haven't figured out what to do with 235 extra points I have which I could fit in another NDK or raven, decisions decisions lol.

As for my cousin, I'm not entirely sure what he's bringing but judging from the last few times we played he usually brings a lot of raiders and venoms and he's got a razor wing as well.

I'm fairly sure its going to be an uphill battle lol I am going to have to be amazingly lucky with my saves especially for my NDKs that get marked up and all those pesky shuriken rending shots.

Might be rough lol

No point for an ADL when Tau can mostly ignore it.

I'd get another raven in there. You need to be able to threaten his council effectively.

all i can say is dont do a draigo wing lol. Faced that with my tau and crippled him because he deepstriked in the only area where he could do anything and got hit by 3 missilesides and a pi plating riptide. Lost half his draigo wing before they even got to do anything lol. And that was only 1 riptide, imagine if i had 2 lol
