Does your group play first edition or M2E?

Welcome to the best master in the stand-out faction of this game

If you only have the box set (I'm assuming you are M2E) then you'll want something to hit people with. Sybelle is okay, Seamus is better but you'll want something a lil less valuable to throw in when the Belles lure there targets in. I suggest Punk Zombies or a Flesh Construct. Both hit hard and have some staying power, allowing Seamus and Sybelle to carry on 'bout their business.

Since Malifaux is more about getting VPs from strategies and schemes than outright killing, I look to Canine remains with their high movement and relatively low priority target status to nip round and place scheme markers, do the breakthroughs or anything that requires relocation of models to achieve success.

Tacticool always trumps tactics

Hans is also a good purchase as he is a merc and can go with whatever crew you use (generally for an extra SS because he's a merc). He can literally shoot most of the table if he's focused, and forces your opponent to react to you, rather than force you to react.

40k is about slamming two slegdehammers together and hoping the other breaks first. Malifaux is about fighting with scalpels trying to hit select areas and hoping you connect more.

Check the Black Friday/Birthday sale thread. There may be something there you and your group would be interested in. Sale goes live Midnight this Thursday evening.
