So, I picked up the rulebook the other week and I have to say I'm totally blown away. I've been wargaming over 25 years and I've never seen anything (especially from a new company) with a background as rich and detailed, or a ruleset so elegant. I think this is as good a fantasy game as Infinity is a sci-fi game (which is as high praise as I could say about anything).

Still, with the superlatives out of the way I wondered what the rest of the dakka community thought about this? Do many people play? How do you find it 'in the real world'? Have you run across any problems that are not apparent at first reading?

Basically, is it as good as I think it is?

Finally, I'm thinking of starting with Troglodytes and my regular gaming buddy is doing Halodynes. Would this make for a good match up and does anyone have any tips for these two factions?

Thanks, C_C

While you sleep, they'll be waiting...

Have you thought about the Axis of Evil pension scheme?

I pledged for the Kickstarter and got myself a pair of starter's and the rulebook but all I've done with it so far is assemble half the models :/
I haven't actually heard anything else about it really.

Oh, I certainly vote with my dollar, but the problem is that that is not enough. The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that.

I noticed this game the other week, had a look at the models, theme and rules for the past few days and actually quite like the look of it.

Seems like it plays a lot like Warmachine, but with alternative activations and action points for all units instead of Igougo and focus points. Obviously there are more differences, but I haven't played it or even bought anything for it yet! (Just watched some vids/read rules).

I really do like the look of two of the factions, Troglodytes and the Mortans.
