Death-Dealing Ultramarine Devastator

I have started an Imperial Guard allied detachment and I need some advice on painting Guard.

I know there are a number of guides on painting Cadians so I won't ask the overly obvious questions about painting standard colors, but I'm considering a different paint scheme based on a darker blue-ish gray uniform with black helmet and flak armor.

My Guard will be based on Ultramar PDF type forces traveling with my Ultramarine/Imperial Fist task force. So if you have ideas for that I'd love to hear them. That is why I'd like their uniforms to have a blue-ish hue to their otherwise darker grey color. As far as the flak armor/helmet, I'd want them to be a sort of dull matte black sort of color, like they were dark black at some point but where worn and dirty.

I apologize if my description is vague, but that's the best I can describe what I'm going for.

Here's a picture similar to what I'm thinking.

Colors like these but with solid uniform colors (no patterning) and some sort of markings that show them as Ultramar PDF.

My painting skills are modest but acceptable for tabletop, so I'm not needing advanced techniques so much as how to achieve these basic colors.

Thanks in advance.

How about thunderhawk blue and try highlighting with fenrisian blue then a wash of nuln oil to darken?

For the armour and helmet mix a bit of storm vermin grey with black, that should give it the black worn look nicely.

Could try a basecoat in that spacewolf grey, wash blue, wash black. Would make them suitably muted and the blue and black would darken it plenty. As far as helmets, paint them in an off-black such as P3's coal black.
