It's a fact of war that your 10 guys are never equal to the other 10 guys shooting you. So in my late night stupor I wondered about a rule set thatwould enable players to field opposing forces of differing points values. Ie 750 vs 1000 or whatever.
To balance it out, what would you think to a rule set of heroic action points, in which the player with the lower point force accrued, in game, a number of actions that can be distributed across his or her force as that person sees fit.
So, all your units act as usual, move shoot assault, whatever, though you can then spend these "HAP's" to (not an exhaustive list, make any suggestions you want)
Move again
Shoot again
Make an extra attack
Hunker down and errect make shift cover
Jump on top of a tank, open the hatch and shoot the occupants (big points cost!)
Etc.
I remember a tale of a captain in ww2 that lost his nerve. His unit had lost comms and their "side" was falling apart under hmg fire. A corporal then runs right in front of all these bullets carrying orders from ond squad to the next, passed on command to the next officer, and helped turn the tide. Iirc he was awarded the victoria cross. Ill try and dig up the reference material as it's fascinating anyway, though that's the sort of thing I'm thinking of.
All thoughts welcome. Automatically Appended Next Post: To add an extra layer, when the points are tipped in the other way (ie lower point player is winning by kicking ass) the hpa's are then passed to the opposition. Could really force players to think turns ahead! Equally, could it make for a too complex game.
