I'm starting a new Mechanicus proxy Tau army and I've just finished assembling my Riptide (O'Vesa).
Stay tuned for more WIP!

That is awesome! Something for scale? If I'm right that's a DW termi plas cannon but I'm not sure... It looks too big

There is a Contemptor Dreadnought right behind it.
The body looks like it was from Dream Forge Leviathan.
No idea on the gun.

The gun is from the Land Speeder Vengeance I think. Only Plasma Cannon I can think of that is that shape with DA iconography.
That looks awesome. What model is it?

I'm inclined to agree with OneManNoodles - the even striations on most of the parts suggest 3D printing.
Love the little vestigial arms - definitely adds to the AdMech flavor. It does feel a bit clean, though, at least at this stage. May just be me, but I've come to expect a bit more tech-occult creepiness from Mechanicus stuff. The build currently looks like a more angular Dreadknight - more of a clean Space Marine aesthetic with a bit of Tau flavor (somewhat sleeker lines and chicken-walker legs). Face reminds me a bit of Gutsman or a robotic linebacker. It's nicely done, again, just unexpected - form is closer to a cleaned up Ork walker head than the usual hose-laden "uncanny valley" technomancy stuff we're used to seeing with AdMech.
Is the whole army going to have a cleaner, more Tau-like vibe or is this just a very early WIP, before "creepy-ing up?" I'm curious to see which direction you take.

Zealot miniatures Lobster isn't it? Certainly looks like it'll work as Ad-Mech.

The gun looks way too big for the arm.
Kinda cool otherwise though.

Huge Hierodule

Add some wires or cables to it and I think it would help balance the size of the weapon vs. the skinniness of the arm

Sock wins the model spotting prize! It's the Zealot Miniatures Lobster Assault droid, Haz- Op version.

It's roughly the height of a Dreadknight. It's the DA Land Speeder Vengeance plasma cannon. Never thought I'd find a use for them but there we go! Never throw anything away.

Even the smallest DF Leviathan isn't so small

You win second spotting prize!

I'll be using Thallax as Crisis Suits and Castellax for Centurions, so mostly Legio Cybernetica which tend to have cleaner lines and less mecha-tendrils. Not to say I won't be tendril-ing the frack out of the other HQ units in my force.

It is, but I like the jury-riggedness of it. Any ideas where I could get plastic/rubber cabling and hose?
Desubot wrote:Very cool though could use a shield. instead of the chain sword.
Offense is the best defence! Chain weapons are more Mechanicusy, they tend to rely on force-fielding for shields according to the HH books.

Smooth or ribbed? Fpr smooth, it's easy enough to find (or cheap enough to buy) thin, rubber shielded electrical or picture-hanging wire. The sheathing takes pretty well to paint and the metal core is flexible enough to bend every which way with minimal effort while remaining strong enough to support its own weight. Dangling sections will deform if it takes a knock, but they bend right back into place.
For ribbed hose, the old standby is guitar string, but it's a bit of a pain to work with. Manageable, of course, but I imagine it's the precise reason why you're asking about plastic and rubber. Unfortunately, I don't know of any suppliers. I've seen reasonably flexible white metal ribbed hoses sold in packs and I know a few people have put out flexible resin ammo belts with a wire core, for posing - wouldn't be surprised if they had cables, as well. The most flexible option is probably the Masq Mini hose/tentacle tool, which lets you roll out putty with perfect, uniform grooves that can then be posed before curing.
