Hey everyone,
This post is sort of one of those ones where I am putting a bunch of stuff in the same post because I don't want to post 3 times haha plus its fun to show some of the stuff I am working on now and in the past.

So first off I need some advice on painting jewels.
I can't seem to get jewels right. I can't paint them where they actually look shiny even after looking up multiple tutorials and stuff I just can't get that right look.
I have this eldar jetbike from WAAAAAY back in the day like when I was 13 or 14 years old that I found unassembled in the box at my house from when I painted lotr and a dark eldar jetbike (picture is on here for fun haha.

So anyways here is the images of 2 different colours of stones. I just wanted some different colours to see how they look.
I started with a dark, then went lighter, then lightest then a white dot. Any help would be awesome I just can't get this right.
P.S MY LIGHT SETUP WAS BROKEN TODAY SO LIGHTING ISN'T THE BEST

Next up is some of the Tau stuff I have done lately, I haven't painted up my army I had 2 XV8's painted but I think I want them to match the rest of my firewarriors and stealth suits wih the classic Tau colours.
I also painted my Piranha a while back in a green and black scheme which I am doing with my hammerhead which is 1/4 painted so far.

Now here is what the other 2 XV8's look like right now (I have 9 XV8's total) The paint job is a little rough was the first time I tried highlighting

Here is the Piranha and an XV25 stealth suit that I did for the whole group of them with camo turning off/on

This image you can't see the grey on the black because the lighting wasn't the best but in the next image you can see the black isn't straight black because I wanted it to look like they were blending into shadows/rocks or something

NOW for my FIRST 40K MODEL EVER!!!!!

This is an dark eldar jetbike I made and check out the SICK BASE hahaha

This base is garbaaaawjjjjee idk what I was thinking...well I was 13 so I probably wasn't hahahaha

Any comments or ways to improve are always appreciated - good or bad comments/critique is always good

I quite like the blue gem effect that you have going there, it just seems alittle more refined then the green gem to me for some reason. One suggestion i would like to make though, flip the gem around. Highlight the bottom half of the gems, and put the white spot toward the top.

Oh stop complaining, its for the greater good... Now get in the box!

That's probably a good idea I will have to give that a shot.
I think the blue one looks better too personally but it is hard to tell since the blue stands out more on the red. I think it might be because of the very dark green I used as the base for the green as well. I might try a bright green gem.

Oh and I just realized I painted that one Tau suit (classic Tau colours) without magnetizing I don't know what happened there must have grabbed the wrong model darn will have to magnetize then retouch the paint haha
