From recent event standings eldar have just supplanted tau, in a major way. Also, give a bit more time for people to fully embrace the new marine dex.

The cycle of "look shiny!" that was about 6-12 months in 5th edition is now about 4-6 months in this one.

As people finally figure out how to beat the new tau their armies will show up in droves on ebay.

Heck, for the real codex hopping crowd - they may have not even painted them yet.

If you don't want to wait - yeah, ebay - battleforces, etc.

Basically you just have to troll ebay. Unpainted, kinda hard especially for Tau since theyre a hot army right now. Usually i get mine from chaosorc.com where everything is ~20% off, but i dont think they ship outside the US (could try though). Downside is you cant get some models from them, as they carry limited stock and some models arent carried at all (like Kroot or most of the HQs)

You'd be better off buying the codex and trying to piece an army you want to use and buy for that, unless you are REALLY patient because i highly doubt you'll find any real deals on ebay for unpainted tau. If anything its just bitz, semi-painted armies people are dumping, or NIB with a high shipping cost to make it LOOK like its cheaper, but it isnt.
Honestly its not that hard to strip paint though. Use LA's Totally Awesome if you can find it where you live (its a yellow liquid in the cleaner isles). That stuff rips paint off faster and easier than simple green, and is the salvation of a few of my 2nd hand crisis suits lol

i would say order you a manta from forgeworld. Last i heard they sent you an entire cadre with it. So about 900 pounds gets you all you need plus a baller model

do anyone even use that thing? its an epic model but its rules are pretty lame, especially since it loses Hard to Hit, making it a dumb AV13 skimmer that moves faster than usual rather than a flier.

Well there's always ebay and the dakkadakka swap shop but I think that you can find some good discount stores around.

I use discount game store on ebay which have some good discounts and cheap shipping to canada at least and you can message them on there to see if they have the models you need.

Buy some 'Super Clean' - it's in a purple bottle, and will strip paint quite well. It will also degrade your skin relatively quickly, so don't drink it. I use it for everything paint striping related, it even took industrial enamel off of a hand railing once. However, though I have left metal and plastic models in it for up to a week, there are no issues with it eating the material.

Ya super clean is what I use too. It's hard to suggest something because products change from country to country but I'm sure there are similar cleaning products at stores there.
You can't get all the paint off all the time though so it won't always be 100% bare plastic but is fine to paint over.

If you're looking for cheap minis and have the time, buy minis that need to be stripped, pop them in purple power for a week, and scrub them with an electric toothbrush. You can save / make some real money rehabbing minis like this if you have the time and inclination.

To speed up the process, invest in an ultrasonic jewelry cleaner. Cuts the time down to just hours, and takes the elbow grease out of the equation.


... edit: Best place to do this is to trade on B-town, at least that i know of. You can get some really good deals on models that need some TLC, but are otherwise fine.

If you're going to do this semi-seriously, i can't recommend enough to get an ultrasonic cleaner. It literally cuts your turn around time by 90%.
