So I've been considering of taking up one of the humans of the Imperium armies and was wondering which would be better to play. I like the idea of lots of tanks on the board, but also like to stay competitive. I was wondering if the new inquisition with Psymera spam would be the way to go or should I go the way of the guardsman with the bigger tanks IE russes and medusas / basilisks? I've found a few more competitive lists for guard, but nothing yet for inquisition armies. Any ideas would be great, thanks a ton dakka!

Why not both? Its incredibly easy to take both, and INQ gives a serious boost to IG, very easy to take both and find a purpose for an inquisitor or two with divination.

Both. IG with inquisition allies, which are now mandatory in virtually every imperial army. Take your 55 point divination inquisitors and use them to boost the shooting of your key units, and if you happen to have a few spare points take a cheap squad in a psymera.

Also, you haven't found any competitive inquisition lists because C:I isn't a real army. It's two units which can (and must) be taken in every imperial army. Nobody will ever play a pure C:I army outside of weird fluff/scenario games.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

The one you like the look and fluff for better. It's a big investment in time and money, might as well pick one you enjoy! Neither one seems horribly uncompetitive, although obviously the Guard has far more units at their disposal (although thanks to the ease of allying them together, that's not really a problem...)

You could always mix both, like the others are saying. Perfectly possible, although I wouldn't call it mandatory per se.

I often trade back and forth. Guard with grey knight allies or grey knights with guard allies. I even painted them so that their color scemes matched. havnt seen the new inquisiton codex butfigure it will make them mesh even better.

Honestly C:I is pretty much the exact same for GK except I don't have to use up an ally to use some of them. I'm thinking chimeras loaded with vets gunline with basilisk support. Maybe take a vendetta or 2? Curious what other guns I should take in this thing? Russes?
