Can you please help me and a buddies dispute about IHW. The new Inquisition codex states that IHW are scoring units if Inquisition is taken as the primary. I read that to mean all IHW in the primary, ally, and inquisition ally detachments are scoring. He says only the primary detachment IHW would score unless I took Coteaz in one of the other detachments. Who's correct?

If you take the Inquisitorial detachment as your primary detachment, then Inquisitorial Henchmen Warbands are scoring units.

Wonderfully vague isn't it?
It would seem ALL war bands are. But can't be sure.

Well you have two issue to deal with.

1) Does this apply to the IHW in your inquisitorial detachment? Yes. The only requirement is that you take them as a primary deatchment. Its effect is a blanket permission that all IHW be scoring unit, and it does not limit this permission to your primary detachment.

2) Does this apply to IHW in your allied detachment. Maybe. Codex Inquisistion cannot be taken as a traditional allied detachment. This codex gives you a special FOC that is used when the codex is either an primary detachment or an inquisitorial detachment. The allied detachment will still use the allied FOC in the BRB, and that still requires at least one troop choice. There are no troop choices in this codex. The Grey Knights codex does have troop choices and it also has IHW units. You and your opponent need to decide if things that effect IHW in your army can affect units that are not from the same codex. There is no right anwser to this until GW comes out with an FAQ.
