So I've seen a couple of people mention how 'raw' and 'op' it is when the Eldar come together like a homicidal yin and yang, but I can't quite figure out how to do it. After looking over the Eldar codex, I find myself a little mystified about exactly how the army is supposed to be played in general. While I have a good grasp of Dark Eldar, I am totally confused as to how to combine the two. What are the standard ways these codexes are allied together? Are there a couple of powerhouse combos I'm just not seeing?

This is probably one of the more notable combinations...

Seer Council with the Baron is just absurdly powerful.

yes...However, then you're also in the Deathstar realm, which while incredibly potent and powerful, leaves not as much room as desired for other things.

I used to do Harliestar and really liked bringing DE along for a couple venoms, and the AT in the form of some haywyches and a Ravager.

However, given how much cheaper Bright Lances got, DE does not add nearly as much as it used to, especially given the new "rending" that most everything eldar has. I would rather have 8 STR 6 shots on a walker with AV 10 for 70 points or even 2 BL on that vs having a venom now. This is simply due to the fact that what DE have excelled in is anti infantry OR anti tank, while Eldar was great at that mid range transport, and volume of fire for MCs or even marines. Now that Eldar can stand on its own in terms of Anti Tank, and is far superior in Anti Infantry and anti MC, there has to be a very specific and good reason to add DE to a list. Usually the good reason comes in the form of Baron adding to or bringing a Beatdown unit.

Fair enough. However, I'm not an Eldar player thinking about adding some DE. I'm a DE player thinking about adding some Eldar. Seer Council appears to be my best bet. Is there anything else I should look into picking up from them?

The seer council can only be done with eldar as primary.

For an allied detachment I would add a laughingseer and some wave serpents.

Another potential option with DE still primary is to go Spiritseer + Wraithguard in Wave Serpents. They give you more anti-vehicle, and some tough scoring units.

It's also somewhat fluffy, as there's a story in the DE book about DE 'helping' Iyanden out.

As far as allies go. My recommendation is to sink as much points into it as possible.

I would recommend: Farseer with Mantle on bike, either 1 or 2 Wave serpents with guardians (no platforms) and if only one serpent some jetbikes are awesome.

Then I would grab 10 Warp spiders and a Wraithknight.

That is adding a lot more punch to your list than you can get anywhere in the DE codex, and nicely fills in a lot of the gap on the light anti vehicle.

If you don't like the wraithknight, then a nightspinner would also be excellent since you probably already have a lot of lances.

you can get all of that for ~1K points (~850 if you go with 1 squad of jetbikes)

oh and the nightspinner, get holofields and crystal targeting matrix, for some turbo boost -> torrent flamethrower goodness
