After taking the chapter master on bike, and two 5 man squads of bikers to satisfy requirements, taking as many devestator centurions as possible after... Probably would need the imperial fist supplement, as the units can get very costly. But if they all had grav cannons, does anybody think this list would do well at killing stuff? I love the model and converting it to look a little different, and if list full of centurions would be at the very least, deadly I might consider it.

Here is an example:
Chapter master on bike, etc.
Biker unit with grav
Biker unit with grav

Dev centurions x6
Dev centurions x6
Dev centurions x6

That is close to 2000 points. Super small and elite, with enough board coverage for the grav cannons between the three. Scouts chapter tactics would be useful . So i can tell its unbalanced already, but will the sheer power of all that grav be enough in a lot of situations to help save them from being tabled? Maybe some inquisitors to attach and get prescience, to maximize their damage output?

No it won't. This list is vastly similar to a terminator list just with out the invunerables.

All your opponent has to do is kill the bike squads and he wins

If your going to use centurions build the army around them I.e back up, tigarus for buff, etc. not build an army of them

I am with Brother Marcus here. I am also of the impression that running them with 1 w/ heavy bolters, 1 w/ lascannons, and 1 w/ grav cannons, in packs of 3 is the way to go. Thanks to the decimator protocols.

I love to run my 3 sets of 3 centurions backing up 3 tactical squads and running for 3 objectives. It works beautifully.

this is an army list my medusa artillery pieces were designed for

if a dolphin will jump out of water for fish, just imagine what it would do for chips?

Hm.. I like that, build an army around them, not of them. A power field generator from a DA Libby would be a nice addition. And as always, I need more troops for scoring.

The other thing to consider is what happens when a flyer gets onto the board. They aren't scoring, so all it takes is strategic LOS blocking terrain placement to win the objectives game by hiding, and then they just take out one of your scoring units and just won.

Yeah there is always that. I purposely come into a lot of games with only two troops in my list because I have made a kooky list like the one mentioned in this thread. Mentally I don't care if I win or lose really, I just want to have fun mainly, but not at the expense of my friend/opponent not having fun. That's why I always like to know if these lists I come up with are probably not going to be fun.

On the other side of this, I don't want to provide a list that is easy to beat, because then it's no fun for me.

Listen, spam lists aren't fun to play or play against, even when they aren't good. That's because they're one dimensional. Sure, you might giggle if you get a favorable matchup and blow them off the table with all your grav. And sure, you might cry when you get tabled in 2 turns by a Tau army with twin linked, ignore cover Ion Accelerators. But at the end of the day, if all you want to do is have fun and play fun games, you need a tactically diverse list!

If you play marines, UM are perfect for this. They scream tactical flexibility with their chapter tactics. You can have your grav spam.

Take a ministar of 5 grav centurions and attach Tigurius. Roll of Forewarning so they have an invul, then Perfect Timing and Prescience if possible.

Take some scouts in Land Speeder storms with shotguns to 1) reserve and then zoom on for objectives late and 2) because they look bada^%.

Ally in the new Clan Raukan supplement and take a Chapter Master on a bike with Gorgon's chain, TH, and AA.

Take a couple Storm Talons, a Thunderfire Cannon, a Storm Raven if you have the points, maybe some drop podded Sternguard or an Ironclad. It's your choice. You can't fit everything I just mentioned, but the point is, pick some and try them out. Proxy before you buy. See what you like, what's fun, and what works. You're not going to win any tournaments but at least you'll be having fun, tight games that never play out the same way.

Rule #1 is Look Cool.
