*bursts though room with axe* HEEEAAARRRS JHONNY!!!

Ok so a while ago I put forth this thread: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/529422.page and got some great advice from it, now since then I had made a shed load for it, and hopefully I have came up with a good system hopefully, so this thread is just an update onto what been happening since then:

Ok so here are the base mechanics:

-It is a D10 system

-It is alternate activations for each player involved in the game

-Characters in forces use Action Points

-Squads (The force you use on the battlefield) have their own AP for each individual member

-Each squad gets STP (known as Starship Points), these points are allowed to be spent on effects (detailed in their own section) to help aid their squad in battle to achieve their objectives.

-Each squad will be given 3 personal objectives to complete during the game

-there will be the main mission (depending on the scenario the player are playing) and personal objectives, if both players fail to achieve the main mission of the scenario, then the game rolls over to see who completed the most personal objectives in the game to determine a victor.

-the game size will be roughly 6-12 guys and maybe a big thing depending on what force the players pick.

-the game scale will be roughly 28mill but 30mill can be used as well.

-the game rulebook will be a free PDF download when I get round to typing the written version onto a computer

I do have more but I was not sure how much I should reveal to you all, so if anyone wants more info please comment on the thread thanks

And for all those who want background, here are the factions redone and a lot more original than before I hope

Order of the Entity:

They are an elite faction who fight for the one main religion in the galaxy which is the entity, the one who created the existence of everything the galaxy knowes. They fight when it is needed to bring order to the galaxy and to make sure that deeds that support the great enemy named the Destroyer nor any deed that goes against the entity's will go forth unpunished. The mainly focus on fighting the abominations of the Destroyer and to banish into the black pits from whence they came to make sure that the existence of their universe is never under major threat. Armed in the finest of laser technology and energy resource aboard their holy vassals, The Order will always make sure that a squad will always be prepared for action should action need to be taken.

The Alliance Federation:

After a 100 year war Involving Human, U'hen (elves.. in space..) and Dweller (Dwarfs... In space...), all three races grew tired of the fighting and merged together known as the alliance federation. their goal is to explore the rest of the universe expanding their border's , however they are encountering just as many enemies along the way, with these enemies comes a strong threat towards the alliance and they must be dealt with. Armed with a variety of weapons such as hotswitch guns, shock hammers and holo-weapons, the alliance is a united force for peace but can also be a force of aggression to combat the many enemies they face.

The Corporation:

Whilst the Alliance deals in exploration and knowledge, such goals require resources and to get resources there needs to be currency, this is where the Corporation sets its foot in. The corporation deals in the funding and advertising of the society of the Alliance but must abide by the laws of the alliance, however with such power comes corruption and the corporation will go to great lengths to seize power wherever they can. armed with elite squads of men and androids the Corporation will go to seize power wherever they want it.

The Network:

After their origins of the massacre on Fort Xanox where a corporation scheme to take over the alliance with an army of Cyborgs with combat ability's to take down 10 federation operative with one Network unit, the corporation lead the ultimate mistake of allowing one guild member supposedly hardwired to serve the corporation to become head of this fearful army. The result was a cold genocide of corporation operatives working there as revenge for what they did to them. These cyborgs now established as the Network have found a new purpose in their new found immortality which is to convert and assimilate all who is not part of the network, to share their "immortality" and or (known as "adoption" between network units for the network views themselves as a family rather than an army), even by force. Armed with some of the finest technology the galaxy has ever known and constantly updating their systems for further aid in completing their goal, the network is one of the most difficult and frustrating factions the alliance has known.

The Guild:

Often known as "shadow cloakers" the guild also serve the entity however were not adopted by the Order as they thought of the guild as too vengeful in their hearts to be part of the order. After the events of the assassination attempts upon the twin prophets by the corporation, the guilds main purpose is now to take down the corporation and to replace the heads of power with their own council to make sure that no such corruption will harm the universe more than it already has. They are not the most well armoured but their agility is unparalleled along their cloaking devices, the guild will make sure that their enemies will not know what hit them.

The Cult:

The cult are nightmares and abominations clad in physical form, created by the destroyer for the soul purpose of destruction and sadistic slaughter, it is the aim of the destroyer to see that all the entity creates is destroyed. Known as one of the most terrifying threats the universe has encountered with monsters and unspeakable horrors at the destroyers disposal, its power corrupts the souls of sentient beings to do as the destroyer pleases with these individuals earning the title of "the cult" as it is these individuals that pour forth the abominations of the destroyer upon their enemies, to fight the cult can mean a fate far worse than death.

The Draak Empire:

The Draak empire is a force to be reckoned with. From their apocalyptic war with an ancient civilisation of invaders reducing the Draak home world of Skrax into a barren wasteland but also destroyed this ancient force in the process, the Draaks wish to eradicate all life to prevent another catastrophe they had experienced happening to their own again. Armed with disintegration technology and tank-like suits with the strongest metal to arm themselves with, the Draaks will make sure that they will be the only surviving race in the galaxy.

The Martians:

When a wormhole opened up in the solar system and engulfed Mars, the Martians were dragged straight into hell and spat out in an unknown sector of space losing their control of the boarder of the solar system, allowing the Humans to expand and control what the Martians lost. Now with a new sector under their control that is rapidly increasing, the Martians are angered that all other races were ready to forget them and allowed the Human pest to take control of what they had lost, the Martians are back and with a specific vengeful goal: To take back what was once theirs. Armed with sound wave technology designed to distort enemy communications and minds, as well as crack open the toughest of materials and armed with weaponised Vivierne- a gel like substance that coats, ensnares and grows upon the victim encasing them in a green gel, the Martians will not be denied what was once theirs.

The Snapjaws:

The Snapjaws are a race of humanoid crocodiles in appearance, but they are not an empire nor a race with a thirst for conquest, but a proud race of pirates, they will look for other ships to board and take from, whether it be weapons, ships, or even the crew themselves, the Snapjaws will take whatever it is they want and take a proud culture along in it. Armed with the thickest hides with looted and "customised" weapons and ships, the Snapjaws are a race to be reckoned with when travelling the galaxy.

The Draug:

The Draug are the finest blade smiths in the galaxy, another member of the federation they have a high code of honour which makes them very stubborn to negotiate with and can leave them blind to be making snap decisions rather than looking for the best possible outcome. This leads them to being one of the least reliable teammates, however when they are one factions enemy they are the others greatest ally, in co-operation on the field, armed with the finest blades in the galaxy with shoulder mortars which fires a molten liquid substance very similar to lava, and some of the best armour piercing guns in the galaxy, it is a mighty foe indeed to take down a squad of Draug let alone an army.

The Infection:

After an exploration into uncharted territory by alliance operatives that called the sector "Pandora" the fleet that had been exploring the sector became ill all at the same time and died under mysterious circumstances and all communications with the fleet had been lost, it was not until a captured ship of surviving Snapjaws with video footage of the desolate fleet that they found out what truly happened.

All the crew were dead, all strewn on the floor with severe mutations across their bodies. As the Snapjaw fleet were raiding and collecting spoils, the dead suddenly start to rose and started to attack the pirate trespasser's all were disfigured, all were biologically weaponised, with tentacles, hives across their backs, claws, teeth, etc. the dead killed most of the Snapjaws and only few survived.

Recent events have shown that the fleet has grown and splintered off and is now sailing the galaxy's high seas trapping any who venture near for their spoils, like a fly to a Venus fly trap. On board these ships there are certain individuals who retain a conscious and when revealed they turn a lumbering horde into an organised fighting force, these individuals have been named as "Viralmancers", what their goals are, none can say as all have a different goal in mind.

Armed with a luxurious variety of viruses, and weaponised disfigurnents, the infection is a nightmarish foe to face.

I do have four more factions to type up, and I shall do next time I have time to write them up, but for now I was wondering on what people thought of these ideas so far for rules and factions? if there is anything you would like to ask, please comment on this thread with your question.

Cheers to all comments

D10 system in what sense? I'd like to hear more detail on that. Otherwise looks like a pretty standard feature set

Its is a D10 system for the combat mechanics and rolling for tests, etc, etc,

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Also here are the four other factions:

The Xy'lor:

Once discovered by the alliance, the Xy'lor are a monstrous force, unable to communicate or reason with apart form individuals identified with the alliance as "Hive ambassadors", these ambassador's organise and co-ordinate their hive colony's into military forces should war should be an action to defend their colony. These speaker's vary from big monsters, to more humanised shapes depending on the world or ships they have 'colonised'. The Xy'lor often take the form of a dominant species aboard a planet or ship as a way of adapting and evolving however they always retain a bug-like appearance along with the adaptations of said dominant species as a by-product of their original evolution. he Xy'lor appear to only be interested in their Hives goals whether it be conquest, adaptation or even just to feed upon other races, once engaged in combat the Xy'lor are a determined force to eradicate their enemy's with determination and fear unparalleled. Armed with Bio-weapons, the Xy'lor will make sure that their Hives will grow and their children will feast.

The Greycoats:

The alliance whilst ever expanding their borders, have limited resources leaving some systems in more priority over others, the systems in low priority usually become greycoat territory. Greycoats are the smugglers of the galaxy, where something needs to be transported that the alliance officials must not know about, the Greycoats will deliver it, just as long as the price is right. The Greycoats, adopt smugglers, bounty hunters, assassins, into their society so that they remain strong against the threats the galaxy throws at them. Armed with looted and customised weapons and the most customisable ships in the galaxy, the Greycoats are the most flexible factions in the galaxy.

The Greys:

A recent addition the alliance, the Greys are the best telepaths in the galaxy and since their arrival have been a great addition to the alliance putting complicated negations at ease by stopping combats before they even start with their minds. From the Home planet of Harlor the Greys arm themselves with a living metal which they can communicate with and have formed a strong bond with, since both were birthed into existence on their home planet, the Greys are an essential part of the alliance.

The Centurions:

Born from a different universe the Centurions were powerful being in their own universe, created by the entity to make a universe of paradise the Centurions were the guardians of this universe, however this universe was not to be as the great destroyer found this universe invaded it eradicating anything its forces could touch. The Centurions fought on with time traveling technology to prevent the invasion from happening however because of the multiple attempts of doing so and whilst there were many battles in this universe, the timeline became unstable with the amount of paradox's the centurion's were creating transforming this heavenly paradise into a war-torn hell before the universe eventually imploded. As the final days of the universes life began to expire also named as 'The Fall' by the Centurions fled this universe with the aid of the entity, however jumping universe's is not an easy step as atoms can vary differently in each universe and so the Centurions needed to transfer the conscious into a replica android of themselves to cross, becoming immortal, however their escape would also be their greatest curse to them as these android replicas could not contain the sense of touch and therefore would feel forever numb, they also felt great shame in their defeat which constantly haunts them. The Centurions do not wish to take combat with any species and only wish to live a simple life in this new universe for them, however if battle is needed to protect others from the destroyer, then they will intervene making sure that the innocent and this universe is protected. Taking the form of Human angels from their original form as they were, the Centurions are armed with genesis technology, weapons that made the targets atoms implode on his or herself, wiping them from existence like a gust of wind, and time travel technology, the Centurions will make sure that the innocent are protected from the evils of the galaxy.

So that was the other four factions of the game, if there are anymore questions on the game mechanics, background, etc, etc then please ask away

So what would make a person want to play this D10 system over the plethora of other D10 systems out there? I assume it's just D10+some mod > some target = success?

Looks like you've got some ideas, though not enough flesh on them for anyone to really comment on it as a game. Write up a ruleset, playtest it, then tweak it again and put it up for folks to comment on.

Best of Luck.

Also, as Bosky has said, what does your game do better than other games that will make us want to buy/play it?
