Hey guys, I've been playing around with Draigo lists and trying to come up with something solid. I read a lot of forums posts and what-not and.. one thing I've noticed, is that no one seems to agree on what a competitive Draigo list looks like. I've created a 1850 point list based on the trends I'm seeing, which are: Draigo (of course), at least 10x Paladins (although the load-out seems variable) and a minimum of 2x psyflemen dreads and as many psycannons as possible
let me know what you think and how i could make it (more?) competitive also, i notice some people are using solodins. i like the idea, but i'm worried about mobility, which is why i have 1 group in a stormraven and the second is deep striking. i have a hard time imagining how i'd get solodins across the battlefield alive.. but please enlighten me if i'm mistaken
Fortifications:
- Aegis Defence Line: Quad Gun
H.Q.:
- Lord Kaldor Draigo
Troops:
- Paladin Squad: - Nemesis Force Halberd (Justicar)
- Nemesis Force Halberd
- Nemesis Force Halberd
- Nemesis Force Halberd & Psycannon
- Nemesis Force Daemon Hammer
[Embarked in Stormraven Gunship]
- Paladin Squad: - Nemesis Force Halberd (Justicar)
- Nemesis Force Halberd
- Nemesis Force Halberd
- Nemesis Force Halberd & Psycannon
- Nemesis Force Halberd & Psycannon
- Nemesis Force Halberd & Psycannon
- Nemesis Force Halberd & Psycannon
- Nemesis Force Daemon Hammer
- Warding Stave
- Nemesis Force Halberd & Brotherhood Banner
[Deep Strike]
Fast Attack:
- Stormraven Gunship: side sponsons with hurricane bolters
Heavy Support:
- Dreadnought, 2x twin-linked autocannons, psybolt ammunition
- Dreadnought, 2x twin-linked autocannons, psybolt ammunition
Total: 1850
if you have army lists (or just ideas in general) that would take my list under/above 1850, it's all good -- please share!

FYI the brotherhood banner replaces force weapon.
You need 3 deads with autocannons and psybolt.
Drop psycannon from the squad in stormraven and buy psybolt ammo for the stormraven (hurricane bolters and assault cannons at strength 5/7).
Drop agies defence line gun (no one is there to shoot it.
Also imo turn the 5 man paladin sqd into terminators
it gives you enough points to buy the FNP upgrade for the main paladin sqd with draigo.

They pretty much got it ^^
Swap 2nd paladin squad for termis and take fnp on the other squad. If you can fit in a librarian somewhere do it - increase to 2k? But maybe that won't work if it's for a tourny or local meta doesn't play that size...

Ok thanks guys! Like I said, I'm looking for those patterns that keep coming up as indicators of what tends to work best. I can't fit all of them in 1850 (especially the Librarian), but I've amped the points to 2000. Here's what I've got:
H.Q.: 440 pts.
- Lord Kaldor Draigo [Joins the Terminator Squad in the Stormraven]
- Librarian: Quicksilver, the Shrouding, & Warp Rift [Joins the Paladin Squad]
Troops: 950 pts.
Terminator Squad:
- Nemesis Force Halberd (Justicar)
- Nemesis Force Halberd
- Nemesis Force Halberd
- Nemesis Force Daemon Hammer
[Embarked in Stormraven Gunship]
Paladin Squad:
- Nemesis Force Halberd (Justicar)
- Nemesis Force Halberd
- Nemesis Force Daemon Hammer
- Nemesis Force Halberd & Narthecium
- Nemesis Force Halberd & Psycannon
- Nemesis Force Halberd & Psycannon
- Nemesis Force Halberd & Psycannon
- Nemesis Force Halberd & Psycannon
- Warding Stave
- Brotherhood Banner
[On foot]
Fast Attack:
- Stormraven Gunship
Heavy Support: 405 pts.
- Dreadnought, 2x twin-linked autocannons, psybolt ammunition
- Dreadnought, 2x twin-linked autocannons, psybolt ammunition [Scoring; keeps the home objective while in cover]
- Dreadnought, 2x twin-linked autocannons, psybolt ammunition

Don't bother buying extra powers for the Librarian. GK librarians only have a set # of times they can roll on the charts so buying excess power is useless unless you're going to use them. More than likely he will just use divination tree so not worth the extra powers. Depending on your meta at your store if you see a lot of seer councils it's arguable if you want a vindicare in the list if you don't think your 4 mindstrike missles could kill enough of the warlocks. Automatically Appended Next Post: Also honestly if you're going to invest in a warding staff toss it on the librarian not a random paladin. 2++ save character if it's in combat is very nice for the libby. Also draigo is a bullet sponge a lot of times for paladins so may want him out there with them as well as libby. I know that makes it an all eggs in one basket unit, but with draigo out front you can do LOS to the paladins for small arms fire and when those str 8 str 9 hits start pouring in he can tank them with his T5 and 3++ save.

It looks pretty solid to me. The only suggestions I would have is to not put the group of paladins in the SR. The SR is an excellent platform but it shines more as a gunship than a transport imo. Once that thing goes into hover mode to let out the paladins it is going to go down. Also, if you want to stick with the libby I'd drop quicksilver and take sanc and MoT. However, I've ran the libby build and honestly a OMI with terminator armor, psyker 1(prescience) and a psycannon is just so much better. Paladins CAN do well in combat but their strength is being an ultra durable relentless psycannon platform. 5 twin linked and relentless psycannons is a terrifying thing to face down. I think the dreads are solid for their price but I also think that DKs compliment Draigowing better.
Also on a side note Paladin squads don't get characters so without an IC you cannot challenge/accept challenges. Sadly, they don't get Justicars so you may as well drop the stave.

This list is way too 5th edition to be considered competitive. Eldar are the kings of the mountain right now. They will run circles around you. They outrange you too. They have a lot of pseudo rending that doesn't care about your 2+. Listen, Draigowing + Dreadnoughts isn't the way to run GK anymore. Not that any primary GK list will win you a large tournament, but if you want to just be competitive in the meta right now, a shunt list would be far more effective.
The core of it would be 3 NDK's with teleporters and heavy incinerators. Coteaz and cheap Henchmen troops to taste; then an allied detachment of Necrons for air support and late game beaming warriors onto objectives type gambits; with a Dlord and 6 Wraiths as another early game threat. That's what I'd run anyway if I was committed to GK primary.

I thought someone might bring this up -- I considered trying to talk about it preemptively, because I also noticed that a lot of people say the Draigo list isn't competitive, while others disagree. But I don't want to have a discussion about whether or not the list is, or isn't competitive. So really, the premise that this post is based on is:
- Assuming you think that the Draigo list is/can still be competitive in 6th, what do you think should go into building it?
That being said, I don't want people to walk away just because they don't think it isn't competitive. Instead I'd ask: "If you were fielding a Draigo list and wanted to maximise it's potential -- what would you do?" Call this a hypothetical, but the fun of list building is all part of the game
By the way korghan's and The Shrike's ideas got me thinking: has anyone ever tried equipping Paladdins with swords rather than halberds, and attaching a Paladin with Quicksilver to the unit? 4++ and initiative 10 seems like a good survival strategy, no?

Swords are good if you roll up the 4++ invo thing on divination it gets boosted to a 3++ in combat.
Paladins can still do well you just need some shunting support. Either Interceptors or Dreadknights or both. I have played a few games where I took a few Solodins. They can hide reasonable well and camp on objectives if needed or you can deep strike them in and cast the S5 Pie plate power to kill some horde if you need to.
Are you deep striking the 10 man Pally squad with Draigo and the Libby? I would advise against it. They will do ok foot slogging. If you need to you can give them scout from Draigo's Grand Strategy to get them up the board a little faster.
All in all:
-Get some shunt units
-Don't deep strike big squads
-Try a few Solodins (They will supprise you)
-Take Might of Titan on the Libby if running codex powers. Will you crush tanks a bit better
-If wanting to run Divination take Cotaez. He has some cool abilities and watch the look on a deepstrikers face when you entire Paladin Squad shoots them to shreds when they get too close. (If they mishap and you get to place them put them within the 12" bubble and watch them disappear.)

If you're committed to run Draigo and a Paladin brick, I'll be constructive I just wanted to make sure the OP's expectations were under control.
If you don't want to break fluff rules too much, forget the Necron allies and at least consider Tigurius with some Land Speeder Storm scouts as cheap troop options (saves you from dumping points into Coteaz and Henchmen).
This way you get a 75% chance at Forewarning (4++) or if you want Perfect Timing (also great); or anything else for that matter. Tiggy is just so amazing for his points and knowing all the books as he does, just makes you so flexible.
If you really want to walk on the wild side, you could shoot for Gate of Infinity. Sure, you could lose a 55 point model if you roll doubles to scatter; but then you'd still have Draigo, 9 Paladins and 3 shunting NDKs in your opponent's face T1. That's the beauty of Tigurius, you've got a 75% chance at whatever power you want to fit your strategy. He makes every game different.
