Hi dakka people, i am running a group of 10 raptors 2 meltas, lc/pf, slanesh, icon. I was curious as to whether the sorcerer or the lord would be better assigned to this group.

Neither, but that isn't the question I guess.

Between the two, a lv. 3 sorc with Invis. would be decent. FNP+Shroud+Stealth=not terrible, but after marks and icons and weapons, your almost at terminator lv. points cost. FNP doesn't work on str 8+ and lots of stuff (TAU) ignores cover now, so your not really all that buffed for the points.

The lord adds some CC but honestly that unit is more of a tank hunter. Lord not really all that helpful, and you lose having a Juggerlord or Nurgle Biker etc. that has a much higher ROI. Also note, Lord must be unmmarked (why?) or Slaanesh, and a Slaanesh lord is way better on a bike or steed than jumping IMO. If you have a Lord with a steed, hold unit in reserve and outflank, you have a decent unit. Unfortunately, it's just a weaker version of Slaanesh Bikers that do that same thing but better and come with Jink already.

In summary, Sorc. can add conditional saving throws and shooting attacks, and a very specific steed build can make a watered down squad of bikers. I play Slaanesh CSM, and I guess I'd run the Sorc between the two so I can still run a Lord or DP elsewhere.

Lord/Sorc goes amazingly well with spawn however, or bikes, if you want to tie an HQ to a FA.

EDIT: I realize the MoS is for the Icon, but a PF waste the +1 Ini. on your only 2 attack model. Maybe swap for a LC and meltabombs and rely on the Meltas to waste punk ass wave serpents.

I run a MoS LV2 sorc in my raptor squad and a MoTz sorc in my terminator squad. My raptors are armed with flamers and are primarily used to hunt devestators, fire warriors and other pesky shooty guys that like to hide in cover. With pyromancy that extra heavy flamer spell can really put that much needed hurt on. Some of the slaanesh spells are fun to use sometimes. If the squad survives the enemys turn, the sorc can definately help them survive longer.

While they are singing "what a friend we have in the greater good", we are bringing the pain!

The power fist is for versatility, good against vehicles if the meltas don;t work and give me +1 a in the assault. I know i can use 2 artefacts 1 being the skarbrand. Was wondering if this equipment shifts the viability in favor of the lord or if it is still a toss up between the two. I plan on shooting, harassing, and destroying any weakened units. If my tactics are like this, does that affect anything?
