Greetings.
Want to join you because I have some questions. Right now I'm working on forgeworld's praetor of Iron Warriors legion. As I know, the main armour color is dark metallic. I commonly use Vallejo acrylics so I decided to mix dark grey with Metal Medium in different proportions and simply dark metallic color. The results were not very fine, just many sparkling dots, nothing like real metal surface. I've read something about achieveing metal look of surface without using any metallics, but didn't succeded with it. Can you please describe me some other metal painting techniques?
Here's the praetor. Just some airbrush preshading.

actually, I'm interested in modelling and dioramas, but also a great fan of WH 40K. Here are some photos of my latest works:

This Dark Angels champion was painted about 2 years ago

First, welcome to DD.

Second, regarding NMM painting, I'm useless, so I can't say anything about that.

Thirdly, your ARC starfighter is gorgeous. The diorama of the r&r is sweet, and if that Dark Angel is your work from two years ago and your ARC is recent, the progress you've made is astounding. Not to mention you're already looking to do non-metallic metals. I've been painting for a long time and NMM is far too intimidating for me to attempt.

Keep up the great work.
