So I have a basic battle group of Cygnar and my son has Cryx so looking for some suggestions on army builds. His style is in your face close combat but loves the cryx models. My style is well balanced and like to focus on tactics shooting and maneuver! So look forward to the input we are hoping to join a local journey league in the new year.

For Cygnar the Black 13th are generally how you would progress to 15 after that consider Arcane Tempest Gunmages and their UA and a Squire.

Don't know Cryx too much. The battlebox is 14pts so you are limited to what you can add for 1pt. maybe a Machine Wraith. for 25 I would go with Bane Thralls and the UA (and drop the Machine Wraith). They are very much in your face unit, stealth, toughness with UA and weapon master, that's 4 dice on the charge, ohhh and stealth.

Have fun with the boy and if you are doing a Journeyman deal you may want to hold off on painting until it starts so you can get those hobby points.

Thus, After having thus successively taken each member of the community in its powerful grasp and fashioned him at will, the supreme power then extends its arm over the whole community. It covers the surface of society with a network of small complicated rules, minute and uniform, through which the most original minds and the most energetic characters cannot penetrate, to rise above the crowd. The will of man is not shattered, but softened, bent, and guided; men are seldom forced by it to act, but they are constantly restrained from acting. Such a power does not destroy, but it prevents existence; it does not tyrannize, but it compresses, enervates, extinguishes, and stupefies a people, till each nation is reduced to nothing better than a flock of timid and industrious animals, of which the government is the shepherd

He could always take scrap thralls too. You get three for a point and they make great suicide bombers. Basically just run them at infantry and either your opponent makes a mistake and free strikes them, or you move in the middle of a bunch of guys and shoot them in the back yourself.

Machine wraith is definitely the way to go. It's fast, can take out a warjack by itself and is a pain for most 15 point armies to deal with.

At 25, you should be looking for ways to alleviate drains on your focus. Deny does not want to give out any if possible, and Stryker wants to camp some.

Stryker could take a squire and a journeyman warcaster. The Journeyman (Jr.) can put the charger into his battle group. From there, I'd look into some kind of screening unit that combos well with Arcane shield.

Denny, can help herself with Warwitch Sirens and a Skarlock. For in your face melee, look no further than Mechanithralls along with a Necrosurgeon and stitch Thralls. To fit it all in, you may want to drop one of the arc nodes. Two is more than enough, just hold one back until you really need it.

Only problem is Journeyman format may not allow for taking stuff out of the battlebox, but good info for non Journeyman gaming.
