I've used some form of matte white primer from a can since 1990... Until I was browsing and say that reaper has brush on primer. Has anybody used this and if so, what are your impressions vs. spray types?

i haven't used the Reaper one, but i use the Vallejo primer with a brush...
i love my spray, but i travel a lot, and live in Mexico, so i need something that can go on a plane...
brush-on primer works great, and has saved me a lot of hassle, both with shipping and with humidity troubles...
same goes for brush-on varnish...

give it a try...
you might like it...
i haven't had any problem with coverage, streaks, lumps, or loss of detail...

hope that helps...

cheers

I would rather spray than hand paint the primer any day. Spraying is much, much faster. I tend to use my brush on purely for touching up after I spray.

That said the Reaper brush on primer is really nice. I haven't had any issues with it. I've hand primed entire models with it and I didn't notice any problems.

I guess my thought is that since I don't paint every week like I used to, I worry about my spray going flat. And unlike the hordes I used to do, now I'm typically only doing a few guys at a time.

This is why I'm considering brush on since I know it'll last a lot longer (and my wife is allergic to the propellants in spray on primer).

Tired of reading new rulebooks... Just wanting to play.

I'm thinking Vallejo [air]brush-on is probably cheaper per ml than reaper and maybe better.
