I've read similar threads on this but nothing definitive.

My unit in question is a Biker Chaos Lord with Spawn.
Since the Lord has a Jink save (and the spawn do not), can enemy units Focus Fire on the 5+ Cover even though it is not being used?

This may have people think twice about Bike HQs... Jump Pack Lord just might have a purpose after all!


The only way around this is that the jink is not ALWAYS on or something...

Focus Fire is on a certain cover save or worse, so while he can focus fire on the jink save it won't achieve anything in this case unless all the spawn are in cover as they'll still be eligible to take hits due to having a worse save.

It becomes an issue when the target you want to hit has a worse cover save than the rest of the unit, not better. It doesn't matter if they are going to use the cover save, only that they have it.

you have focus fire backwards, it goes for cover or worst

so its a problem when its a juggernaut lord in a unit of bikes. Since all the bikes have a 5+ cover from jink and the juggernaut lord does not, you can focus fire all wounds to the juggernaut lord

I guess the problem might be trying to tank wounds for the spawn on the bike lord, as he's going to have far better saves than the spawn. I'm not sure why you'd exactly want to though.
