Going to play a series of 1500 points games (no allies) this weekend so I put together this list with the goal of it being fairly versatile, please let me know your thoughts and suggestions:

HEADQUARTERS

Commander - CCN, MSSS, NSJ, PEN (137 Points) - Buff other units


ELITES

XV8 Crisis Team - 3 Suites all with 2x non-twin linked Missile Pods each (156 Points) - intermediate range support, anti infantry also anti vehicle, secondary anti air

XV8 Crisis Team - 3 suits, 2 with 2x non-twin linked Fusion Blaster, 1 with 2 x non-twin linked Plasma Rifles and a Target Lock (161 Points) - will deep strike and pop vehicles

XV104 Riptode - Ion Accelerator / Twin Linked Plasma, EWO, STIMS (225 Points) - control middle of table soak up bullets


TROOPS

10 x FWs (90 Points) - Objectives / Back line Support

10 x FWs (90 Points) - Objectives / Back line Support

11 x Kroots with Sniper rounds (77 Points) - Infiltrate on or near an objective


FAST ATTACK

6 x Pathfinders (66 Points) - Paint Targets

6 x Pathfinders (66 Points) - Paint Targets


HEAVY SUPPORT

Hammerhead Gunship - Railgun with Sub-munitions and SMS, Longstrike (175 Points) - Kill Vehicles

Hammerhead Gunship - Ion Cannon and SMS, Black Sun Filter (126 Points) - Kill Light Vehicles and or massed infantry

XV88 Broadside Team - 2 x Missileside with SMS (130 Points) - Anti Air / anti infantry/light vehicle

Do you plan on using this as a competitive army?

The challenge: in a 1500pt game I will play 900pt + D6x100 pts, if I roll a 6 I reroll and -100 to that second number (down to 1000pt minimum)

I would suggest a couple of skyrays. They help against most comp lists these days. They own bikers. Serpent spam, flyers, fmc.....etc etc. personally I take 4 but I think that's overkill haha

@ Wings of Purity - I guess semi-competitive, Depending on success/failure it could become the basis for a competitive Army, I don't know how well this Army will be able to hold / take objectives with only 20 FWs and 11 Kroots serving as scoring units, but there is enough fire support and mobility among the rest to draw fire away from and or protect them, at least I hope. I guess I'll find out this weekend

@Spanking Ape - would you suggest swapping out the Ionhead for a Skyray?

My personal hesitancy in fielding a Skyray is that once you "fire de missiles" it becomes a 115 point markerlight and SMS platform. The Ionhead offers similar S/AP in both 3 shoot standard for shooting at vehicles / monstrous creatures and the overcharged large blast for infantry and or bikes. I know they are a popular unit in the game but i'm still trying to force myself to build them into lists! Right now I've been just trying to Missile Spam any fliers that I might face, I feel that this option gives me more versatility. But By adding the Skyrayand dropping the Ionhead I do free up 10 points though so i'll definitely look into that and see how I can tweek the list

The list is great but I'd switch Ionhead to a Skyray.

The Skyray is more powerful than the ion head for a number of reasons. Firstly it's an av13 platform for 2 networked markerlights, secondly, it's ability to alpha strike important targets like flyers, flying monstrous creatures, bikes, annoying dev squads with 4 lascannons hiding behind an aegis etc. it can do this in a number of ways. The best and most awesome way is by firing all 6 missles in one turn at a target and using it's own mark lights to ignore cover, which means bye bye jink save, bikes/skimmers/flyers are straight dead. For 115pts you can wipe out a unit twice it's cost. And even after it's shot it's missles it still augments the rest of your army with its markers and has a SMS to boot.

I'd actually take 2 skyrays and 1 hammerhead; leaving out the broadsides. Because you have the number in terms of markerlight hits, with all the pathfinders and your skyray lights, you can successfully wipe out a dev squad, a tank or something valuable first turn. And the second skyray you can save for when a flyer decides to join the party only to be shut down by the missiles going up his rear...

Thanks for the Suggestions, I'm going to change that Ionhead out for a Sky Ray.

With the extra points available (12 points) I added one more Kroot with Sniper rounds as well as gave the Commander a Flammer for that "just in case" moment. Not sure if that is 5 points well spent but i really couldn't think of anywhere else to put it.

I think the missile crisis suits would be better off being broadsides. Whilst your broadsides are missing vital equipment namely an EWO on each suit and 2 missile drones for each suit.

I'm not a fan of the buffmander unless you've got a deathstar to put him in (farsight bomb, O'Vesastar). He's too many points buffing a unit that can be easily buffed by MLs anyway. I think the Mark'o commander would suit your list better.

I wouldn't bother with the plasma guy in the suicide melta squad. Keep them cheap. They are your only answer to AV14 soI would take fusion on the Riptide. Depending on meta I would consider a second double fusion team too.

I don't like your HS at all. Ionhead is quite good but as people have suggested the Skyray is very strong right now. Longstrike on a Railhead makes no sense. Only 1 shot for overwatch basically wastes that rule. Plus tank hunters on 1 S10 shot isn't great. Against AV10-11 you don't need it against AV13+ you suck even with it (less than 1 in 4 chance of killing an out of cover AV14 tank). Hull point removal is the best way to kill tanks in this edition, then multiple melta shots is next, Railheads just aren't the threat anymore. Heck even in the last book people didn't take Railheads for AT as their main role. Leave the Railhead at home always.

Iv had success with a tool belt commander jumpin between squads. Personally would prefer to see an ethereal. as iv lost more games when troops or suits fly off the back board.

Also i concur at least take 1 skyray for the ion head.
