I am thinking of doing something hilarious in my circle of close friends..

Currently we own just about every army (Stave IG and Eldar) and have most of the compositions we could muster for each army and list.

I have always wanted to try 6 Croissant crons simply to crash and burn them, but I'm not even sure if you can deliberately do so by moving <minimal distance.

If it is possible, and I'll run it by them before hand, I'm going to crash these flying pastries into all sorts of things >

You cannot voluntarily move less than the minimum flyer distance.

0000 - Rest Period - BUT YOU BETTER NOT SPEND FOUR WHOLE HOURS SLEEPING. IF YOU DO YOU ARE NOT ANGRY ENOUGH AND TOMORROW YOU GET THE FIRST CHANCE TO PLAY PIN THE TAU ON THE CARNIFEX.

In the very early days of Flyers, before the "minumum distance moved" rule was established, I had an opponent do just this.
Mission was relic and i had it...running back to my board edge. I had already killed his foot guys and his last turn ditch effort was to try and move his flyer less than min distance and crash them on top of me (hoping to kill the unit and at least get a tie).
Everyone of them scattered off the unit. It was still an epic move at the time.

Life isn't fair. But wouldn't it be worse if Life were fair, and all of the really terrible things that happen to us were because we deserved them?

See me and my ork friend did this once when we both took 3 blitza's and realized we both didnt like them XD After we decided they just didn't live up to their orky potential, we just started crashing them onto things It was one of the most entertaining days I had ever had playing 40k, stand alone THE best ork day I had ever had <3

A new day, a new time zone.

There is something deeply hilarious about the image of a squad booking it in a mad rush to the table edge while flyers kamikaze straight into the ground all around them. ^_^

Exactly when were the early days before 'minimum distance' was a thing?

Sadly no, but don't let it stop you from doing it anyway.

As others have said - no you cannot intentionally crash and burn (though one ork Bomber has it as an option but is based on a die roll).

One alternative though would be to look into the Death from the Skies supplement for the Dog fighting rules. These are actually really fun to do if you have some friends who have a number of flyers as well and want to try something different.
