I need some help to make a 1500 army list as competitive as possible utilizing either Ultramarines or Imperial Fists chapter tactics.

I would really like to use some drop pods and devastator centurions in this list but it is my first attempt at making a SM list so I am not sure what direction to go.

I was thinking if I used UM tactics I could put Tigurius in with the centurions to give them divinity powers and make them stronger. I also like the IF where they would get tank hunter.

Ideally I would like to use stern guard and tac marines in drop pods, thunder fire cannon(s), and storm talon(s) along with centurions but I am not entirely sure what is the most competitive utilizing these chapter tactics.

I also like the idea of a chapter master on a bike with a librarian or chaplain to get that command squad on bikes too but that is pretty pricey at 1500 points.

Anyhow, I was hoping some experienced Space Marine players could help me out building a list.

I realize that White Scars are pretty popular now but I like the UM and IF chapter tactics the best. Salamanders is a close 3rd but I don't see how dev. centurions would fit in with their army as well as the other 2.

Why not both.

Make the main army smurfs with tigger and ally in the centurions for tank hunter.

Based on this alone, definitely UM. Divination with Tigurius and UM tactics would be most effective.

If I do use Ultramarines chapter tactics how would I make that 1500 point list as competitive as possible?

Tiggy with the centurions, sternguard in a drop pod with meltaguns or plasma guns? 1-2 stormtalons and a couple thunder fire cannons? Maybe an ironclad dreadnought in a drop pod?

How would a list like this using UM tactics look?

Centurion Devastators 3x grav gun/amp 3x chest missile launchers

Thunderfire Cannon


Comes out to 1500 exactly.

I'll keep Tiggy with the centurions to hand them divination powers etc.
