My FLGS is having an impromptu Round Robin Tournament. I usually play Wolves around 1850 and it's a pretty static five Drop Pod list, but I have access to Rhinos/Razorbacks, TDA Wolf Guard, Scouts, etc.

I'm hoping for a little feedback on what my plans are here. I'm seriously torn between 750 Triple Pod and a no Pod list with an ADL for my RP/Longfang squad.

Please, any help or advice would be appreciated. I'm trying to build this as a potential TAC. I will be playing a variety of CSM, Ultramarines, Inquisition/GK, Orks, Nids, etc all at 750 points. On to the list:

HQ:

Rune Priest - Runic Armor - Choice between LL/JotWW and Divination for Longfangs, depending on opponent, terrain, etc.

Troops:

10x Grey Hunter - Plas/Plas, Wolf Standard, MotW - Drop Pod
10x Grey Hunter - Plas/Plas, Wolf Standard, MotW - Drop Pod

Heavy:

5x Longfang (+Sergeant) - 5x ML - Drop Pod

750 total

The idea is really simple, very static Pod Grey Hunter Longfang Wolves. Drop in two Pods in turn 1, try to 2 v 1 one of my opponents units and use the Longfangs to clean things up and put on the long distance pressure.

Besides this - I was thinking about dropping the Pods, adding a Rhino for early advancement and Rhino LoS tricks, dropping the Longfangs down to 4 and adding an ADL for the Runepriest to man.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Define "Round Robin"?

Per the FAQ you may select a lore instead of choosing powers from the BRB disciplines - Rune Priests do not swap powers like some other armies can. Meaning if you write Divination on your army list that's all you get for the tournament.

This isn't bad, but you literally have no way of killing a Land Raider or a Monolith. Glancing with Missiles won't do it, I'm afraid. Blood Angels can take 2 troops riding in LRCs at 750 points. What do you do against that?

I would do this, as you would then have some anti-air. I would also give one Grey Hunter squad Meltaguns instead of Plasmaguns, to deal with the inevitable AV14.

My list would look something like this:

Rune Priest 110
-Chooser of the Slain, Divination (take Prescience for the Long Fangs)

10 Grey Hunters 205
-2 Plasmaguns, Wolf Standard, Rhino

10 Grey Hunters 200
-2 Meltaguns, Wolf Standard, Rhino

5 Long Fangs 140
-5 Missile Launchers

ADL w/ Quad Gun 100

Total: 750

The Chooser is to prevent infiltration and make the Quad Gun a tasty BS5. I hope my suggestions have helped.

Just wanted to reply quickly. Looks great, love that double Rhino list, wish I could play it that way but it's 5 points over with 1 Squad Double Plas, 1 Squad Double Melta in a rather bizarre twist, if I assign them Melta/Plas // Melta/Plas, they fit at 750.

Thoughts on splitting special weapons between the Rhinos?

Also Round Robin is a Tournament Structure where everyone plays each other, it cycles. So A plays B, C plays D, say A and C win their matches, then A plays C, B plays D, etc. Until eventually wins/losses sort themselves out, etc. That's the general gist of it.

Ah, you are right! I think mixing special weapons amongst the units is fine. Otherwise you can trade the Chooser for a Wolf Tail Talisman or something. I would probably go that route.

Despite my dislike of mixing weapon types in units I recon that's the way to go - the chooser is going to really help
