Any improvements would be much appreciated it's the first time I've ever played Dark Eldar, the strategy is to get the sebway in place amidst the enemy using the Grotesques as a fire magnet while protecting the haemonculus then moving the pain engines from the webway and keeping fire support from the raiders whilst deploying wracks on any objectives while the raiders sweep the board with poisoned shots.

Any suggestions how to improve? The haemonculus ancient upgrade was more to spend a spare 30 points or I wouldn't generally bother with it.

The Twilight Zone

For your grotesques, I would put urien here and the hamey with the wracks. You could almost drop the hamey, as urien will give the wracks a second pain token, and with 10 wracks you get dual liquifiers. Take an acothyst for leadership and a venom blade or something. If you really want the webway portal talos drop, a regular hamey will do. Drop the stinger pistol for a liquifier gun. The pistol is not bad, but the liquifier is better and they effectively have the same range.

If you drop the ancient upgrade, and the envenomed blades from the raider you could swing in another grotesque.(but you would need points for the upgrade)

For the razorwing, never take necrotoxin missiles. Shatterfield missiles lack the AP and pinning, but at S7 they functionally wound most things on 2+, but they re roll to wound and can be used against armor. Monoscythe missiles are ok as well, so either go stock or shatterfield. Disentergrators are nice for hunting TEQ and all, but your list is very low on AT, and your razorwing may need to pull AA duty. Keep the dark lances in case you need them. The splinter cannon is usually a waste cause against most enemies you shoot 2 missiles+lances or dissies. The cannon won't come into play till at least turn 5 in this scenario, and by then your razorwing may be dead, or not need it, or have many good targets etc. You really want 1-2 turns of missile blasts, supplemented with your main guns. The stock rifle is decent enough if you need it.

The most important rule of 40K-Page XVII of the 6th edition rulebook, the figure at the top right of the page. "Shake hands with your opponent and thank them for a good battle and fun experience." Then go out for a beer.

The main purpose of the haemonculus is the webway drop and I have a fair amount of liquifiers already on the pain engines the upgrade is to make him that little bit more durable to stop the Grotesques going mad, yeah I get what you mean about the Razorwing d cannons and missiles I'll swap them for stock or shatterfields, the anti tank is coming from the 4 raiders on the table and maybe a heat lance equipped pain engine.

I don't expect the Razorwing to make it past turn 4 but by then hopefully it's taken out decent amounts of armour or flyers whilst ground forces and the pain engines hammer the enemy infantry

You can never have too many liquifiers... and one of the strengths of a coven is to get a LOT of them on the table. The ancient is fine if you have the points and all. Heat lances are OK on the talos engines, but with the webway you are usually still better stock. Dakka down troops for a pain token, then charge tanks if you need the AT.

Another thing I forgot to mention is aethersails, you probably want those on your wrack and grotesque raiders. That extra distance helps get the portal into play, and set up a crucial turn 2 charge.

Yeah I might cut points from the ancient upgrade add in a regular haemy with the webway and give him a liquifier so 2 liquifiers with my Grotesques and add on some aethersails, I have cut the necrotoxin mmissiles in favour of the shatterfields after looking properly at their codex entry and deciding they seem awesome.

I see what you're going for, which is commendable, but if you want to be semi-competitive with DE (their ceiling) you should be basing a list around what is most effective:

Beast Packs
Venoms
Fliers

Good luck whatever course you choose.

I have a venom full of blasterborn but I like the strengths of the haemonculus kabalite hybrid I'm playing with each to see how they go my main concern is adding some staying power to the army with units that can bog down dangerous targets while I can harass other infantry with copious amounts of poison shots I don't aim to camp on objectives I intend more for rapid assaultddropping my wracks into combat asap and bringing ky pain engines in on top of the enemy supported by the Razorwing so the enemy will struggle to focus on which target is the most dangerous
