If you negate a stunned or shaken result with living metal, do you still lose the hull point?

The key to strategy is not to choose a path to victory, but to choose so that all paths lead to a victory.

War is beautiful because it establishes man’s dominion over the subjugated machinery by means of gas masks, terrifying megaphones, flame throwers, and small tanks. War is beautiful because it initiates the dreamt-of metalization of the human body. War is beautiful because it enriches a flowering meadow with the fiery orchids of machine guns. War is beautiful because it combines the gunfire, the cannonades, the cease-fire, the scents, and the stench of putrefaction into a symphony.

Yes - you still suffered the hit, you just don't suffer the stunned or shaken result.

Are you sure? It says if you succeed at the living metal roll, the result is ignored. Isn't the loss of a hull point part of the result?

No. Read the penetrating hits - you lose a hull point AND roll on the following table.

Where's the popcorn?

I would argue that living metal just allows you to ignore the effect but not the hull point loss from the hit, but it's the exact same RAW argument that I use to argue that a drop-pod loses a hull point on arrival, and that turns out to be incorrect, so I don't know RAW for this area as well as I would think.

Based on that, I assume that living metal might allow you to ignore the penetrating hit and everything that entails. (Even though I think that's not the intent)

you lose a hull point because you took a penetrating hit, not because you were stunned/shaken.

Does living metal say you negate the penetrating hit?

When a vehicle suffers a penetrating hit 2 things happen.
1. The vehicle loses 1 hull point
2. A damage result is applied on the vehicle

Living metal allows the vehicle to ignore #2 only.

I play against a few Necron guys and they've always removed a HP upon a penetrating hit, before seeing if they can ignore the result on the chart.

Back in the day, we were epic Space Vikings with horns, and beer, and stupid mockney accents, and we didn't have any truck with this flying around like a pansy shizzle. We certainly didn't surround ourselves with mangy animals.

Now we're basically the Bestiality Chapter.

We also now ride chariots and employ daemonic dreadnoughts...also, we fly and teleport with abandon. With wolves.

drop pods don't loose the hull point because it specifically states in the entry that they don't.

Pretty sure that it was FAQed otherwise before their new codex.
