Looking for resources for 13th company fluff - novels, articles or books, etc etc. Particularly, I've heard there was at one point a 13th company army list that I would like to get a hold of if I could figure out where it was.

I'm actually kind of curious as well. I saw this on ebay:

When was this box released, and why are they wearing chaos bits?

Thanks for the help!

Most of the fluff you want is in the old Codex: Eye of Terror book. It explains their background and has the army list. Edit: There were a couple of WD articles also, but I'm afraid I don't know specific issue numbers.

Basically, during the Heresy Leman Russ sent the 13th Company of Space Wolves into the Eye of Terror to chase the renegades. They weren't seen for millenia, and were presumed dead. When Abbadon led his 13th Black Crusade from the Eye of Terror, there were the 13th Company Space Wolves, fighting the good fight for the past 10,000 years or so. Because they were cut off from supplies, they had to fix their armor and get their supplies from defeated renegade Space Marines, hence the Chaos parts to their armor.

Such prolonged exposure to the Warp also activated the Canix Helix gene "defect" to protect them from Chaos mutations, leading to a single specific mutation which is in the current Dex as the Mark of the Wulfen.

The 13th Company list, if you can find one, might still be valid. It might not be GOOD, but I think it's still legal. The only units the 13th Company pulled from the SW codex are their HQ units and, as far as I know, they are still called "wolf lords" "rune priests" and "wolf priests"... so the current SW HQ should still be useable. All the other units in the 13th Company are unique to their codex list, and since GW never replaced those rules, they should still be legal, too.

Of course, being from back in... what was it... 3rd edition? NONE of the 13th Company have any of the USRs from the BRB, so they will be overcosted and underpowered on the tabletop.

In addition, the models are hard to find anymore. You could easily convert most models by just mixing SW and CSM plastic bitz together, but the Wulfen are another matter entirely. The Wulfen are full-on werewolves in power armor, and their models go for upwards of $200+ for a box of five on eBay. Unless you have an insane amount of disposable income, you are going to have to convert up some Wulfen.

Emperor's Eagles (undergoing Chapter reorganization)
Caledonian 95th (undergoing regimental reorganization)
Thousands Sons (undergoing Warband re--- wait, are any of my 40K armies playable?)

Use the current SW codex. But only use wolf guard. because every member of the 13th is that expirenced ++. unupgraded Thunder wolf cav for wolfen standins. The ]Skin Wolves from Forge World work good for this.

You can find all the fluff you need on Lexi and the likes.

Had forgot about these dudes. Very cool indeed, it was a brilliant side story, great campaign idea.
