Got a game with a friend in a couple days. He plays Tau, and I have a sneaking suspicion he'll be going crisis heavy. I threw this list together for it, what do you guys think?

Warlock, Jetbike
Autarch - Jetbike, Reaper Launcher, Scorpion Chainsword.

5 Avengers - Wave serpent, Scatters, Cannon, Holos
5 Avengers - Wave serpent, Scatters, Cannon, Holos
6 Jetbikes - 2 cannons

Crimson Hunter - Bright Lances

Fire Prism
3 War Walkers - 2x Scatters each.
Wraithknight - Suncannon, Scatterlaser

1500 exactly

Autarch and warlock go with the jetbikes.

It should be a grudge match but his weakness is his troops. Even if he's enclaves, his troops aren't particularly resilient. Wipe them out and you should win if it's an objective based mission. If it's PTA, 9 KP is still pretty low. You should be fine. And your WK can ID any Riptides he may have, or at least tie them up.

Rule #1 is Look Cool.

Yeah, in the past we're about 50/50 win rate with each other. My army has 10 KP, not 9. I'm just really worried about keeping my vehicles alive vs markerlights, broadsides, and deep striking crisis suits.

Oh yeah good catch.

Are his marker lights on drones or pathfinders? If the latter, serpents make quick work of them.

As for broadsides, war walkers can outflank no? Perfect solution if he doesn't have EWO. + Crimson Hunter for backup.

As for DSing fusion suits, don't fire off your shields early on and keep your rear armor up against a board edge so he can't get behind you.

Following through on all of those sort of conflicts. If I don't fire off my shields I can't make short work of pathfinders. If I DO fire off my shields I've got fusion suits to worry about.

It should be a pretty interesting game! I'll report back with what I feel were the strengths/weaknesses of this list, and what my opponent brought.

If anyone's got any comments/suggestions for the list let me know before sat!

So he ended up metagaming me completely. he took:

cadre with 11 fire warriors
11 fire warriors in a devilfish
10 kroot with sniper rounds

2 squads of 5 pathfinders

2 riptides with ion cannons and fusion blasters
2 squads of 3 broadsides with high yield missile pods, smart missiles, shield drones, and missile drones.

Despite my list being tailored to handle 3+ armour saves, and then having to deal with 24 wounds of 2+ armour saves, I ended up stomping him.

Notes:
- My war-walkers were next to useless vs the broadsides. even outflanking they did on average 3 wounds per turn. This was after he was a great sport and allowed me to switch out a scatter laser for a starcannon on each of them.
- The Crimson Hunter was pretty awesome, ESPECIALLY since he didn't give any of his broadsides a Velocity Tracker.
- My Wraithknight was absolutely amazing. He really laid down the hurt on whatever he shot at, smashed a riptide to bits in close combat, and tanked his entire army's shots for a turn just to be put down to 1 wound remaining. Loving him to pieces currently.
- Warlocks are terrible. He never successfully cast a single power.
- Autarch was great for reserve manipulation, but he didn't put a single wound on anything all game.

All in all, by following Shrike's advice on taking out those pathfinders first turn I was able to severely nerf his entire army's damage output and secure myself the game pretty early on. GREAT call on that one!

Don't blame the Warlock for your rolls.

The Riptide can't be a giant death robot, its completely lacking a sword or massive chainsaw. All giant death robots have swords or massive chainsaws.
