Hey Dakka, been attempting to think of a decently strong list that isn't quite the norm (by norm I mean Scythe and Wraithwing spam) and was hoping for some opinions on what you guys think about this list idea. It's a little skewed toward AV 13 spam (which is honestly my preferred style of play with Necrons) with a little support from a lesser used special character: Imotek. The hope is that he will continually provide decent cover against non-Tau armies not only turn 1, but turn 2 and onward as well as long as the chronotek can help keep it in play (really, can you complain when you have stealth and/or shrouded to your jink save?).

So here's the list:

HQ:
Imotek = 225
Overlord + MSS + WS + CCB = 195

Royal Court:
Veiltek = 60
2x Lanceteks = 70
Chronotek = 40

Troops:
8x Warriors + Ghost Ark (Imotek and Chrono here) = 219
9x Warriors + Ghost Ark = (Destructek here) = 232
9x Warriors + Ghost Ark = (Destructek here) = 232
5x Immortals + Gauss Blasters (Veiltek is here) =

Fast Attack:
6x Wraiths = 210

Heavy Support:
Annihilation Barge
Annihilation Barge

Total: 1, 748

The Immortals stay in reserve with the Veiltek for late game objective grabbing (and give me board length mobility that I would otherwise not have), the O.lord on CCB is on vehicle/MC swiping as well as counter-assault. Wraiths fill the same role, and although I know many will suggest a D. Lord, the idea is that this will give me multiple threats/units that can deal with whatever I need to. Now, I have also considered Zhandrekh for this list as taking and giving away USR is a really big bonus (and he is cheaper), but want to see if I can't somehow get Imotek to work in this kind of list.

That said, what do you guys think?

Also, quick question. Does the Chrono's special rule also apply to the vehicle the unit is in? It'd be awesome if I could reroll dangerous terrain and/or jink saves, but I'm not sure how that would work. Thanks guys/girls!

I would recommend switching Imo's squad to full brick (trade it's GA for more warriors).

I would also drop the other Warrior squads down to 5 and add a second Lancetek to each squad. The GA will keep these dudes from getting shot at, might as well get as much firepower out of each squad as possible ( not too mention taking advantage of your two Royal Courts). Along these same lines, try adding a ResLord to Imo's squad. 20 Warriors with a Res Orb, Imo w/Chrono at front, and 2 GAs on the flanks, is an absolute nightmare for any player to take down.

I would also play around with the idea of dropping the Wraiths for a Doomsday. I think it would be a better fit for a list like this.

Oh, and seriously consider Solar Pulses on two of those Lanceteks. Combined with Imo, it will basically give you Night Fighting the entire game. No one wants to have to kill 6+ AV 13 hulls all rocking 4+ and 3+ cover saves because of night fighting.

Here's an alternate I cooked up:

HQ:
Imotek = 225
Overlord + MSS + WS + CCB = 195

Royal Court:
Reslord=65 (probably staff of light)
2x Lanceteks = 70
Chronotek = 40
2xStormtek=50

Elite:
Tomb Stalker + Heavy Gauss = 165

Troops:
20x Warriors (Imo/CHrono/ResLord) = 260
5x Warriors + GA (Double Destro) = 180
5x Warriors + GA (Double Storm) = 180

Heavy Support:
Annihilation Barge
Annihilation Barge
Doomsday Arc

1785

The GA with the double stormteks kind of replaces your Immortals for the aggressive scoring option, and will make any vehicle think twice about getting close to your Phalanx. The Stalker allows you to really focus fire your prime opposition down each turn, combining well with both varieties of Arcs. It also pushes your AV 13 numbers to 7. Also, the only target you are presenting S6 and worse is your incredibly resilient Warrior Brick. This will drive opponents crazy.

35 points over your initial cap, so needs some tweaks. You could push it to 1850, allowing you a little extra love on some of those units (mss/ws/sw for the ResLord? Pulses for the Lanceteks? An Extra scoring squad?)

Just did some maths, it takes 108 BS 4 S7 shots on average to kill an AV 13, 4HP target with a 3+ cover save. Wow...even without the cover save, you are talking 36 BS 4 S7 shots. You would make Tau and Eldar absolutely cry with a list like this.

It's ironic I had been debating a list similar to yours before I finally made the choice to post this one. I had been considering the dual lanceteks but didn't have the points and at the time I wasn't willing to drop the immortals or veil, but I do like the idea of this list. My only concern is with the DDA. I like the idea especially coupled with a stalker as it is. For me, I always had the problem of that blast scattering about twenty feet away when it should've been primed to hit a completely clustered unit, which was always frustrating and sad, so the improved accuracy would be well received with me. My only concern is that whatever I'm shooting at (especially a gun line behind an aegis) is also getting the benefit of night fighting and likely getting a 2+ cover save since for some reason the blast isn't barrage. The same things that would protect the Ark would also hinder its firepower. To resolve this I had considered Zhandrekh so he can graciously bestow night vision upon it, but doing so would require me to drop the CCB and with it my counter assault/anti MC which concerns me greatly. The alternative is to use a solar pulse to negate night fighting on my turn, but that would also leave it exposed as well in my opponents shooting phase (although I could shuffle a ghost ark in front of it to at least give it a 5+ cover).

Yeah, I know that feeling.

And you are right about Imo not jiving well with the DDA. It struck me on the way home after posting that, but if you were going to go DDA, you would probably drop Imo don't to a generic Phaeron Olord with a Res Orb, or maybe Zandrek, and grab 2x Solar Pulses instead.

Its a nifty list, though. Its re-inspired me to take a look at the super brick concept. I'll have to post that up in a bit.
