I was thinking about expanding the amount of bikes that I own by about 20-25 so I can run a biker mob. This would probably include a biker boss with biker nobs, and wazdakka with two squads of 12 warbikers each. I am unfamiliar, though, with the way this kind of tactica usually plays out. Should I take even more bikes or fill points with dakka? Any general wazdakka related tips would be appreciated.

Ork Warbikers took a hit this edition with how almost every type of biker has come down in cost in comparison and have either been buffed from weapon changes (elder jetbikes with new shuriken pseudo-rending catapults) or rules additions (White Scars chapter tactics). Luckily, we arguably have the most dakka per point when it comes to our bikes so in contrast to what you would expect Ork Warbikers to do (not Nobz just normal ones) they are best for dakka and run tactics with you shooting units up with our twin-linked dakkagun goodness until you can whittle them down enough for you to handle them in combat.

I think that generally Warbiker squads are best in groups of 7-8. You don't want too many like a full squad because of the large footprint they will have, making it more unwieldy to use, AND the fact that smaller numbers will allow you to split enemy fire between multiple squads rather than 2 big ones so they can't focus fire their ignore cover weapons and promptly wipe them all out in one go. Especially as troops choices this means that you can have more units to contest and take objectives at latter parts of the game rather than just have 2 which can be bogged down in combat or otherwise.

When it comes to Wazzdakka himself, it's best to play him very cautiously and defensively and exploit the fact that he can shoot even after turbo-boosting. Use him to get at flanks or even rear sections of tanks/vehicles with his mobility boost and use him as a harasser or bully to units that can't handle them very well. His lack of an invulnerable save makes him unsuited to the brawls from which a typical Ork Bikerboss thrives upon so it's really important for you to pick his battles for him and use him put additional pressure on various exposed flanks of the enemy army. Just never send him against enemy CC HQ's or any other CC/sufficiently large unit and you should be fine.

I'll preface this that I've never run a full-on Biker Mob.

In my experience Warbikes work best in small groups. Personally when I've used Bikers I've found they work great in groups of 6-8.

Interestingly I just threw together a list of Orks as follows:

Wazdakka
Warboss on Bike
3 Groups of 6 Warbikers w/ Nob, Big Choppa, Boss Pole
1 Group of 8 Warbikers w/Nob, PK, Boss Pole
2 Groups of 7 Warbikers w/Nob, PK, Boss Pole (this is where you'd put the Warboss and Wazzdakka.

That's a total of 42 Bikes for exactly 1500 points. Not bad. Although there's no Nob Bikers in there, and you probably want at least a small squad of them.

Amusingly while building this list I noticed that Wazdakka is exactly the same amount of points as a naked Riptide. For the sake of Mork and Gork the Orks seriously need a codex update.

EDIT - 42 bikes not 33

Get some nob bikers with Bikerboss in them. They're tough and hit hard. And their main aim in your list will be drawing fire away from bikerboyz (at least sometimes). They're like 3-4 times tougher than regular bikers with 5++, 5+ fnp 2 wounds and a biker boss with t6 that can absorb s10 hits and still have his 4+/5++ and 5+ fnp.
I played double nob-biker deathstars. They appeared to be totally worth it.
btw, regular bikerboss is a stronger mellee fighter due to s10...does wazdaka have ws5 and 4-5 attacks too?

If you want Bikes as troop seriously consider Warboss Zarsnark from Imperial Armour 8. He is a Warboss and comes with a PK that Stikes at normal Inititave and is only 150pts. He comes with some othe cool rules as well but still fails at having no Invo and for some reason only has a 6+ save.

I would run a biker boss as HQ 2 & a squad of Nob bikers both are hard as nails. I've been making him my Lord and rolling on Command as it has some cool abilities.

You don't want to be running Wazdakka + Troop Biker Mobs, because they're not that good.

You want to run a Warboss on Bike, with Nob Bikers as Troop Choices. A Biker Boss is actually better than Wazdakka point for point, and Nob Bikers are a far better unit to have as a Troop Choice, since they're that much more durable.

Wazdakka lists are purely for the fun of it. If bikernobz werent auto-take and the opponent can assume they will need something to deal with them, they would be better but theyre not even half as durable as bikernobz, dont cost much less (per wound), and force you to bring wazdakka lol. Hes terribad compared to a bikerboss in every way except biker troops. Maybe if his bike perk (flat out and still shoot) went to his entire unit, he would be worth it lol. One could argue he has a better gun....cmon were orks for gork's sake! also it isnt TL and stil BS2 so its actually less reliable lol.

The only upside to it is you have a ton of S5 shots, and on mobile platforms. Even fliers (except stormraven) arent an issue since they just zip behind them and light their ass up. Its just like i said earlier, they die twice as easy as bikernobz to the things people WILL bring to deal with your nobz.
