I definitely agree on the Jaguars as the Blue Angel signature unit has alot of them. Even if that unit goes away in the next version of the northern rules in January (
http://dp9forum.com/index.php?showtopic=15765), Jaguars are pretty ubiquitous so I don't think you'll have an issue placing them. The only other things I'd recommend for a smaller starting force would be a two pack of cheetahs and doubling up on weapon choices. You can make the cheetahs the CGLs for better spotting and electronic warfare but still leave the big guns on the standard squad members. I don't know if you prefer
40k style beatstick commanders or ones that try to command more than fight but the latter is much better for that than hunters and jags. I don't know if you have one of the newer field guides but the style of squad building has changed since the North got their L&L rules. You pick from one of three basic squad types, each with two of one weapon. You then can customize the remaining stock models. I'd try because of that to field doubles of weapons within a squad (two mbzk instead of the up to 5 you can have now). If you're itching to build right now, I'd definitely follow those guidelines or just wait till January when the new pdf comes out.
